Well, I had my first experience with concierge services today. I had requested (last week), the IPO to book our Candlelight Processional. As of today (TH) at 3pm Florida time, it hadn't been booked. I discovered this because I called Disney dining, to ask them. I was on hold with the IPO about 25 minutes, when I fainlly got through, and was very snottily told that the Candlelight Processional packages opened up yesterday (Wed), and that they were behind because of the virus.

Since I wanted Xmas Eve at Rose and Crown, I booked it myself.

SO, my impression of the Poly concierge at this point is not very good. I'm not one of those people who planned on trying to "make up" the cost differential in food.....I was expecting the convenience of not having to book reservations frmo CA, and the extra space of the concierge lounge.

I am now worried about how they will book my meal reservations in a month.......will it get done? I know Xmas is busy, and things go fast!!

Julia
Julia, why don't you try e-mailing them? If you address your e-mail to Jeffrey he might be able to help out. I found the Polynesian IPO to be far superior to AKL and the GF - they got everything I needed, even at extremely short notice (including an Illuminations Cruise). Jeffrey is a pleasure to talk with and I have no doubt that he would do all he could to assist you. Everytime I e-mailed for an ADR request or ticket request, I received an updated itinerary with my new reservations within 24 hours. Sorry about your first impressions -I hope it gets better.

Do concierge guests receive the use of the health club at the Grand Floridian (Poly guests)? I thought I remembered reading that somehwere.
Actually, since May of last year, all guests of the GF and Poly are entitled to the complimentary use of the healthclub.

I sent an email yesterday with all my requests to the Poly concierge team. I will keep everyone up to date as to what happens. We will be staying lvc for four days in December before going on to a four day cruise on the Wonder. Keep your fingers crossed for me that they can get my requests done! :scratchin

I am very excited because yesterday I changed our reservations from LV to LVC at the Poly for May 2006. :cool1:
After reading all 43 pages of this thread I know I should send an email to the IPO to introduce myself but is 9 months in advance too soon? Do I need to wait until closer to my trip. I am really hoping to get an Illuminations Cruise or a Wishes Cruise and didn't know if it increased your chances by submitting your request way in advance of the 90 day mark. :flower:
Also i am going with my best friend and his 2 sons. The older one turns 11 the second day we are there. Will the IPO help my with planning for the birthday? I have been trying to find out by reading these boards all the different things available for birthdays. Will they be able to help me figure out what my options are?

Thanks :sunny:

I'm sorry if I missed it somewhere in this thread but does anyone have the Poly email and phone # for the IPO?
Less than 2 weeks til LVC and I'm hoping I can get a few ADR's. :bitelip: I've never booked such a last minute trip!
Thanks!

Fairy Godmother ~

Congratulations on the change. I think you'll love it!

Yes, the IPO can help with all your birthday stuff and we found that they were really good about keeping it a secret! They helped us with getting a cake and balloons in the room for DS's 12 birthday last October, made our PS arrangements at Crystal Palace for a BD lunch and made sure that Crystal Palace knew it was his BD. They had streamers and confetti on the table and he got a card signed by all the characters there. And they helped us get some last minutes ressies for an Illuminations cruise - last minute being the week before.

I'm not sure if it's too early to contact them. I know that they typically conctact you about 90 days out.

Fairy Godmother, when you contact IPO depends on what you'd like them to do. Some reservations can be made 1-2 years in advance, while most are done at 90 days. If I don't have anything beyond the standard 90 day requests, I usually contact them and introduce myself somewhere around 5-6 months out. Some IPO staff give you a real family feel, while others keep it short and professional. I haven't dealt with anyone in the Poly, so I'm not sure where they fall. The same holds true with getting suggestions for a special event. Some staff members will go all out with giving you information, while others will sit back and leave it up to you to ask them. I'm sure with the many folks that have stayed Poly concierge, they can give you a CM's name to specifically request. Unfortunately, even concierge can't secure a confirmation prior to the 90 day window, but they will put your request in as a pending item and confirm it at the appropriate time.

Princessesrule4, if you look at the first post on this thread, you'll find the concierge contact information for each resort.

Eeyoresmountainpals,
That was fast! Thank you so much!

Tammi,
Thank you! I started reading this thread about a week ago and couldn't remember where I saw it! I guess the first page was too obvious for me!

We did that for your DS's 3rd BD lunch. We arranged for the cake at CP.

That's good to hear. I had requested about 110 days out but they dropped the ball and didn't book it. Something about them getting a new computer system. We are on the wait list now. I was pretty resigned to not going (it won't ruin the trip or anything just would have been something nice to try). But it gives me a "bit" of hope to think they might be able to book it. They have however gotten me CRT on short notice.

I received an email back from Jeffrey with the information I requested (answered within 24 hours :hourglass ::MickeyMo ). He also said they have my requests and will get my ADRs at the 90 day mark.
I will keep everyone posted. So far so good!!!!!!!!!

My exactly words too... I emailed them yesterday, and Jeffery requested everything or made notes of all my PS's ( all way less than 60 days BTW).

IPO at the GF sent me my itinerary and ADR requests to review. Everything looks good, so now I'm just waiting for one more week for them to make them. I'll keep you posted.

We are staying Poly conceirge lagoon view for the first time in July 06 and I have a couple of questions...
1) Where do we check in at the Poly?
2) How have people found getting their room requests? We have asked for ground or 3rd floor!
3) Can they get hard to get reservations for Victoria and Alberts? How far in advance can you book that now? Will they also book childcare and golf?
4) We are in WDW for 3 weeks......all on Disney property, but not all at the Poly.......will they book my restaurant reservations for the whole trip?!!!

Thanks!

1) Tell the bellman and he will take you via golf cart to the concierge building to check in.
2) We didn't get what we asked for either time we stayed there.
3) We've not tried Victoria and Alberts, so I don't know that one.
4) At every concierge we've stayed at (Poly, AKL, BWI/YC/BC), they have always booked for the whole time, not just the nights/days of the stay.

Hi Debs, I looks like you have answers to most of your questions. Perhaps I can help with you Victoria & Albert question.

You can book 90 days in advance for a regular table in their dinning room. If you are interested in the Chefs Table they book that 6 months in advance. I would make contact with IPO at the Poly about 5 months before your trip. They will send you a planning guide and you can fill out your requests or you can e-mail them in.

We are leaveing in about a month for the Polynesian and AKL. Starting to get excited. Have fun planning!

I have a ? about AKL CL please?? I booked 1 night there before our Disney Cruise through DVC. We will be there Oct 12th, I received my confirmation letter today from DVC! :Pinkbounc I was wondering if they will contact me (wasn't sure since it went through DVC)? Or should I contact them?? I don't want to seem pushy, but it is less than 2 months away and I would like to make a room request at least! :rotfl: I would love some advise!!

Don't have time for a full review but just wanted to say the Contemp 14th floor is amazing!!!

Room was huge, bathroom huge, balcony huge. Everything looked great and clean, every CM was friendly and helpful, I don't want to stay anywhere else from now on. Anyone who is going is in for a real treat. You feel like your the only guest there.

The new balcony doors and balcony railing on the 10th floor looks great and the ninth floor is being worked on now. There seems to be no more sliding door but rather just a door you open. (like the beach club has)

THanks for all your answers! I am so excited even though it is not until next year! ha! ha!
Eller: When you say you didn't get your room request either time you stayed, was that at the Poly? What did you request and what did you actually get? We have requested non smoking for medical reasons, but then our preference was for a ground floor room, followed by one on the third floor. Have had a lovely e-mail from Jeffery at the Poly to confirm that he has a note of our requests, so here's hoping!

Debs Hill: As long as you remember that requests are only that - requests. I am sure that they will do everything they can to meet your requests provided they have the space. We went to Poly LVC in May and requested the same thing. Non-smoking, First or third floor. We got an amazing room on the first floor. Can't remember the number now. I want to say 1_09? Anyway, just hope for the best, but don't let it ruin your trip if you don't get exactly what you were hoping for. :teeth: Have a great time
