Just as a reminder.... most of the time they are not selling "socks" per se. They are selling other "things" they cannot advertise on ebay and the buyers know this. They are buying pictures etc.....

Is there some sort of code or something that the buyers know? How do the buyers know that the seller has the specific "items" they are looking for?

This may not be the case for all sellers of used socks and shoes BUT.... my sister and her dh sells them as well. We also have friends on the opposite coast as us that make a nice living off of it.

To be honest I have no idea.. just that I have heard this several times and my hubby has seen articles on the net about it.

He showed me a story about it when this thread was originally posted and I was asking why anyone would sell old socks...I said it must be for people with a foot fetish.. He said NO and then found the story he had seen recently..

Its just a little too weird for me!! But I think Ive seen stranger, though thankfully I do not remember!
