I decided to go for a 3 star on Priceline in Nashville for the night before we leave. All of the 3 * had shuttles and parking listed. When I called to verify these facts the young girl said "Oh, we don't have park and fly." It is a Holiday Inn Select and on their At a Glance page it lists Parking as a category and goes on to say: Parking available/500 spaces - Complimentary Registered Guest Parking - Large parking lot available and complimentary to all guest. Plenty of space for motorcoach busses. Parking only allowed for registered guests. - Car Parking - Registered Guests Only.

Do you think I should try to talk to a manager? Call corporate? Park there anyway and hope they don't tow me away? It says I can't cancel. Please help with any past experience or advice!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it clearly states for registered guests, once you check out you are no longer a registered guest. 500 parking spacess for a hotel that probably has at least a 100 rooms isnt equipped to handle park & fly traffic, since not every room is checking out and parking for the same duration I can't see the manager budging on this.
But it is worth the phone call.

I would call the hotel back, and ask again. If you get a different answer, make sure to take down name, time of call, yadda yadda yadda.
That being said, simply having shuttles and parking doesn't necessarily mean that they have park and fly. Some hotels have shuttles that do airport runs. That way if you fly in 1 day, and out the next, you don't need to rent a car for the night. Or think of business people that take cabs to their meeting. Shuttle to the hotel, then cab to meeting, then shuttle back to airport. Ditto for parking. Some hotels in major cities don't have parking due to space limitations.
It is possible that Priceline did indeed say they had park and fly, in which case I am misunderstanding your post, but then you would need to take that up with Priceline. They should be able to offer an alternative/refund if the hotel no longer offers what you bid for.
Sorry to be pessimistic, but you may be outta luck as far as the hotel is concerned. If Priceline said park and fly, then you have a good chance with them however. Good luck!

You best bet will probably be to find another long term parking lot in the vicinity to leave your car with them. They are usually cheaper than parking right at the airport.

Google Nashville Airport parking and see what is available.

We got a room because you pay as much for parking as you do a hotel and now we may have to pay both. It's just so sad. Do you think they would tow our vehicle?

1) Most airport Hampton Inns have "park and fly" type of parking. *
2) We do it all the time to save on parking lots.
3) As for Holiday and Holiday Express, it is up to the franchisee.
4) In your case, it is not offered.
5) Nowhere in the description you printed does it elude to "park and fly".

* Additionally, there are other motels getting in on the "park and fly", as it fills rooms from both families and especially businessmen. And, hotels/motels have got to cater to business people.

yes. I think there is a very good chance that hotels near airports monitor their parking lots to make sure nobody is illegaly parked there. Yes, they very well might tow your car.

I think you misunderstood exactly what is a Park and Fly package. Just because a hotel has a parking lot and offers shuttles, does not mean they offer Park and Fly hotel packages. Most hotels that offer Park and Fly do so with a slight surcharge on top of the room rate, in order to cover their costs of providing the long term parking. Those rates will usually specifically state "Park and Fly rate" and in the terms it will explain how many nights you are allowed to park in their lot for a one night hotel stay.

It is very unlikely that a hotel is going to give you long term parking for a one night Priceline hotel rate.

I didn't think that Priceline even offered Park & fly. When ever we have used P & F we booked it that way, thru the hotel. hotels that have it offer that option even online. and it is normally more than just a room for one night.

Google Nashville Airport parking and see what is available.

This is an excellent suggestion -

like others said at Ohare in Chicago the Park and Fly Options are special and must be booked special - with the surcharge on top of the room night - sometimes its cheaper to do the long term parking - google is your friend!!

Yes, I think your car will be towed if you just leave it there without discussion.

I think you should call the manager of the hotel and see if something could be worked out for you. If not, park at a long term parking lot and chalk it up to experience. Don't beat yourself up over it. What's done is done.

Before booking a room for us this summer, I called the hotel that we use for P&F to ask about this very topic. Although they do offer P&F, they said that you can not just book a regular room & leave the car at no extra charge. You would have to pay for parking at the hotel. So it makes sense to book a P&F package because the package is cheaper than booking a room plus paying for parking.

You made a mistake. You misunderstood. I certainly have done that myself in another parking context, and it resulted in my car being towed. I think you do have to pay both the hotel room & parking this time. But now you know how it works.

They might, is it worth the risk?

They might also not want to pick you up to take you back to the car since you have no reservation!

When I lived in Nashville I used these guys..

http://www.flightpark.net/

LOVED them.... (I miss having that great service here in ATL)

The car was always ready, the time my tire went flat they had it fixed for me... just wonderful!

We just got back from Nashville airport last week. We left our car for 8 days at a place called The Parking Spot. They were awesome!! It was 9.50 for outdoor parking and i think $12 for indoor. They took us in a limo to the airport 5 mintues away and when we got back they picked us up within 2 minutes in a limo. Also our car was ready and wiating for us when we arrived. A friend of mine even gets her car cleaned when she is away. I didn't want to leave my car in some unattended hotel parking lot. it's just a minivan but still with my luck. Hope that helps.

I don't know if it's the same one mentioned in the previous post, but I'm almost sure there is a discount parking spot on Royal Pkwy, which is just on the other side of the interstate from the airport. A google search should turn up some options. Far better than worrying the whole time if you'll be towed.

We stayed in one hotel there that advertised $1 a day parking for up to a week or so if you stayed at least one night with them. It might have been the Wyndham, but I'm not sure. There are definitely some good stay 'n' fly places if you weren't already committed to the Priceline bid. One of our secretaries does this all the time.

If you did the name your own price on priceline, you have no argument with them. Some hotels may appear on their 'regular rate' search, while others work with them only with the name your own price. Searching all 3* hotels in an area before doing a name your own price bid does not guarantee you will get one of those places! Plus doing a name your own price, you're only bidding on the hotel stay. Park n Go packages are available only directly through the hotel, and only if they offer it. Nowhere in your description did it ever clearly state park n go, only registered guest parking. So likely, you're going to end up paying for the hotel AND for parking elsewhere.

Unfortunately I did the same thing last year... All the 3* hotels near Detroit had park n go lots, so I figured once I got there I could ask for a parking pass, or pay the surcharge to upgrade. Well, they wouldn't give out a pass and wouldn't let me upgrade without paying the full price for a room/parking. So sadly, you'll probably end up like me spending an extra $80 more than you expected. :sad2:

Just FYI even when you DO NOT use priceline you usually can NOT leave your car there like a park and fly package. If you book a hotel night only that is all you get. They charge much higher prices for park and fly packages usually.

if you use priceline you are not entitled to park and fly. there is a list of rules at betterbidding. you can look it up. i was going to do the same and book a pre-flight hotel but was pretty disappointed to find out that i could not park there.
