Use your Disney Store discount while it lasts...

I was at the Disney Store today to pick up a few birthday presents and also to get the Alladin DVD. I gave my member card to the CM (who also happened to be the manager) and said, "At least I'm getting something for all the money I spend!" She said, "Enjoy it while it lasts, because as soon as the sale goes through, it will be gone."

There has been no news disseminated about what discounts will or will not remain once the sale goes through. Heck, CM's don't even know what benefits will still be granted.

I don't know that I'd worry right away about the DVC discount being taken away.

I use mine often, and no one from the store has mentioned the discount going away. I have only heard that from this board. Maybe the CMs at some of these stores have sour grapes about the discount.

Maybe she misinterperted your statement, it could have easily been understood as the money you were spending on the items, not the money you spend on DVC. I'm sure some Disney Store employees probably don't know what DVC even is. I just used my card this weekend and there was on mention of a discontinuation of the discount.

the cm's at "my" disney store have said that the dvc discount will soon by history. they have also said that THEIR disney discounts will be history as soon as the sale goes thru.....they will no longer be cast members. they are very bummed about that...

We're all very bummed about it. Specially as we've had very little information in the stores -- some stores apparently haven't even told their cast of the upcoming sale.

It's a bad situation all around. Every CM that I know could give a long list of what went wrong in the stores and when. Those of us who've been around a while are distressed to see the company we work for cast us off with out a thought. As a DVC Member, tho' I'm glad that I do still have that magic to fall back on. I only wish I'd been able to buy more points (and of course, have more time off )

The stores will hopefully know more in the coming weeks.

Does anyone have any idea if the DVC discount will still be good at the World of Disney Store in NYCity?

I doubt that our cards will be good at the NYC store now that they changed over to "World of Disney". We don't get a discount at the "World of Disney" store in WDW. Possibly, once the dust settles, we might get this offered as a discount down the road. I imagine that once Disney no longer owns the Disney Stores we won't get a discount.

Several years ago, I'd have been upset. Now, I don't even bother going in the stores.

we were at the Disney Store last night to get our AP's, we leave in 7 days. CM told me the sale is going thru on October 11th. They don't have any details regarding the DVC discounts, tickets or anything. I had to but our Halloween costumes for MNSSHP for the 20th!

Ok, so the story sofar is,

The Disney Stores are being sold off to some kids company. Which will end the oft confused DVC discount.

BUT, some of the big ones are being converted to World of Disney?

That's at least a glimmer of good news in a bad situation. I feel for everyone working for the Disney Stores. But I have had the opinion all along that they should have had less of them and they be of the same selection as the WoD. Can only sell so much princess/plush/and now ABC Sat Morning things.
