Use Year September 2015 - SSR

Hi.

I have a question before I go an rent some of my points.

I have zero points left in 2014 in my September U/Y SSR DVC.

I have points left in my 2015 September U/Y for SSR.

If I rent out points, it can be for reservations now through August 31, 2015 or is it August 31, 2016? I get very confused I could make ressies now for 11 months at SSR and 7 months away for other properties. Correct?

Also, I have not done a transfer in/out of points. Can I do a transfer and would it be for the same dates.

you can transfer your 2015 UY pts and they could be used for stays from Sept 1, 2015 to Aug 31, 2016 (or banked to the Sept 2016 UY).

Your use year runs Sep 1 to Aug 31. Your 2014 use year started Sep 1, 2014. Your 2015 use year starts next Sep. The 2015 use year points can be used for a trip during your 2014 use year only by borrowing them. They can also be used for a trip during your 2015 use year as "current" use year points for that trip. When your trip occurs determines whether you need to borrow (or bank) not when you call to reserve. You can always reserve 11 months out at home resort or 7 for others. Example: you could today reserve a trip for first week of Aug 2015 at your home resort by borrowing Sep 2015 use year points.

As to transfers of points. You don't need to have points transferred into your account that have the same use year month as your own. You just need those transferred points to be usable for the trip you want based on the use year of the transferor. Transferred points retain the transferor's use year.

In relation to transfers, you have two special rules. You can transfer only "current" use year points, meaning, for example, today you could transfer your Sep 2015 points to another. You thus cannot transfer points that have already been banked or borrowed. Moreover, transferred points once transferred can be banked (if still within the banking window of the transferor) but not borrowed. Example: if someone transferred April 2014 points to you today, you could bank them into the April 2015 use year. However, if someone transferred to you April 2015 points to you today you could not borrow those for a trip that occurs before April 1, 2015.

Keep in mind that borrowing points increases your risk in renting.

If you borrow points from 2015 to rent a reservation prior to 9/1/2015 and that renter cancels, you cannot put the points back. They will have to be used prior to August 31, 2105.

as i said above:

you can transfer your 2015 UY pts and they could be used for stays from Sept 1, 2015 to Aug 31, 2016 (or banked to the Sept 2016 UY).

transferred pts cannot be borrowed, though.

You could today transfer your Sep 2015 points to another. The recipient could not then borrow those points for a trip that occurs before Sep 1, 2015 because points once transferred cannot be borrowed, but he could use them for a trip between Sep 1, 2015 and Aug 31, 2016, or bank them and use them for a trip between Sep 1, 2016 and Aug 31, 2017. In offering what you have to transfer, you would need only to say you have (put in number of points) available for transfer from your Sep 2015 use year at SSR.
