We are getting ready to purchase,.direct at VGF - we typically travel in April or summer (July or August) and will likely alternate between the two time-frames based on our historical practice. At least until our daughter is out of school in 9 years - then, who knows...maybe September, which is when we went.before she started school. Our guide told us we should go with Feb or March as a use year, which seems fine to me, but I've seen some other posts about the guides pushing Feb as a UY right now when other UYs may be better. Should I be worried about a Feb UY? Thanks

Feb UY works well for you because your travel period is in spring/summer time and even if you start traveling in September it covers that as well. What Feb UY doesn't cover well is the winter but based on what you're saying it doesn't sound like you plan to travel then. Your banking deadline will be on 10/1 so if you end up having to cancel your trip in September you can still bank the points to the next use year. March would work equally as well and your guide is not trying to deceive you into picking a bad UY for your travel periods.

We have a Feb UY and travel every year in March, August and December (VGF and BLT). We are 13 years of membership and have never ever had a problem booking home resorts for any dates at 11 months and can *usually* get what we want at the seven-month window as well if we act right away. Don't overthink it. Feb will be just fine for you.

? The use year doesn't affect what you can book at 11/7 months, it matters for cancellations because of the banking window.

Gee thanks. You're telling at 13 year member how it works, lol.
I mean sorry? I just didn't really see how you being able to book the resorts you want at 11 or 7 months was really relevant and didn't want OP to be misinformed when a lot of newer members have the misconception that they can only use their points once they've loaded into their use year. But anyways, gee thanks for your input.

If you actually read the OP, it's relevant because the scenario presented is exactly our scenario and to which I responded. And we have no problem booking the times noted in the post (similar to ours). So I am actually 100% addressing the OP's concern asking is Feb UY should be fine. Based on 13 years of experience doing pretty much exactly what the OP asked, I answered directly. So, yeah, 100% relevant.

No it’s not relevant. The only issue with certain use years is the banking deadline. Intamin explained booking was not relevant and you got snippy. 🤣

Yeah, okay. I refer you to the original question (you can read it twice if need be). You may now step off your high horse now. Pony up cowboy.

Let’s not argue. It is important that new buyers understand that UY doesn’t play a role in booking but also nice to hear experiences of those in the same situation.

OP, given your travel times, the Feb or March UY is ideal. The rule of thumb is to have one that starts as close to the start of your typical time of travel, if you have them, so if you do have to cancel or change a trip, you have the most flexibility!
