We have one point left in our 2020 year. If we borrow the additional points needed for a Sept 2021 stay and have to cancel, will the points borrowed from our Oct 2021 use year still be available or bankable to use later? Or will they disappear September 31, 2021?

Borrowed points cannot be banked. You will lose them after Sept. 30, 2021 if you borrow from Oct. 2021 and don't use them.

They will expire Sep 30, 2021. During the Covid pandemic, Disney had a modified rule of putting borrowed points back into their original use year if reservation having them was cancelled. However, that policy ended a few months ago and now the usual rule applies, in that borrowed points can never be put back into original use year.

This situation is why I strongly disagree with the conventional wisdom that you should buy contracts with the same use year if you're going to own multiple. Unless you're 100% certain that you're NEVER going to travel during those four months that are outside of your banking window, there's a real benefit to having contracts with different UYs so that you can strategically pick which to use depending on what time of year a given trip will be.

This is why we have two. But I will say the contracts do have to be large enough to function as it’s own membership to make it work.

It can also mean borrowing on one when you have points on the other.

But with different travel times it can work well!!
