I know everyone says to buy in the same use year, but what are your opinions of buying close use years. Like some in Aug and Sept?

Close UY are really no different from far apart UYs. You have to remember banking deadlines are different. You can't combine points to make a single night without transferring. You can still make two separate reservations using the two different UY and ask to have "continuing reservation" noted on them.

It’s like you are two owners. So, if you are buying to use together, it is not easy because you either have to transfer or book some nights on one and some on the other.

Unless you have a reason to get different ones, it’s good to stay the same. I have Aug and Dec but use them for different months and trips. If I do need to overlap...March or April trips...then I book Some nights on one and some on the other, even if I end up borrowing when I have points in the Other one. I am not a fan of transfers.

I bought into a second use year to get a good contract. 75% of my points are in a June UY. I use that for family trips. One contract is Sep UY, I use that for just me and my wife to take trips. We have an excuse to take trips more frequently because we have two use years (Bye-bye kids...Mom and I need to use some points lol). This works fine and saved me a few thousand on a contract, but I won't add more points on my September UY, and I won't get a third UY for sure. It's easy if you are using them separately, harder if you want to combine points.

I have two contracts with the same UY and a third in a different UY, location with a different purpose, expiration etc. I also have different bank accounts I’m often transferring back and forth. This should be interesting!! I hope I don’t mess it up!

what would the benefit be?

Seems like unnecessarily complicating things for no real benefit.
In some cases possible better contract, or more flexibility on timing of reservations.

I have two and did it on purpose so that all my trips are always within a banking window.

I have enough points in each so I use them as though it was the only one. My Aug UY covers trips from August to March/April. And my Dec UY covers trips from December to July.

That makes sense to me, but OP gave the example of August/Sep.

Not sure how much of a premium I would pay to keep contracts on the same membership, but it seems like a hassle to have to switch back and forth except in your situation where you never have to worry about being able to bank.

I think that whether you have close or far apart, two UYs are two memberships and unless one has a reason...like we did...I agree it makes sense to stay with the same one. If not, it takes work.
