Use year question

Hello,

We are considering buying a resale and I have a question about the Use Year. The use year is September and has 215 points available this September and 175 next September. I assume that means that the owner banked 50 points from 2012 into 2013. When do the 50 banked points have to be used by?

2012 UY points that are banked would now be usable during the 2013 UY--September 1st, 2013 through August 31st, 2014.

Banked or borrowed points need to be used before the end of the year that they were moved to.

You can't bank of borrow them again.

We are new to DVC and have a question regarding when the points are considered used. Are they used at the time of booking?

Just making sure if I don't bank points and my reservation is booked outside current use year that I don't lose them.

You have to stay before the points expire, not just book. So your stay has to be during the valid time of the points.

For example, you have points from Sept 1, 2013 to Aug 31, 2014. You can bank them no later than the end of April to use them from Sept 1, 2014 to Aug 31, 2015. If you don't bank them, your stay must be between Sept 1, 2013 and Aug 31, 2014. If you bank them, your stay must be between Sept 1, 2014 and Aug 31, 2015.
