use year question

I was wondering if someone would be able to help me
strategize which use year would work best. I seem to
travel in November and March. I currently have a March
use year but I do have an option to change it as I still have
not signed papers. The other catch is I often need to see
the school calendar to see when teacher conf days are etc.
so I can minimize lost school days. So I was thinking August
might be better for us but then I'd have to wait a full year
before getting points credited again but I'm not sure it would
really matter as our travel plans this year are made for Nov (cruise)
and March (using points for first time). Just a bit confused. Can you
help?

I'd go with an August through November use year. The closer to November the better.

The March use year works great for your March trips, but isn't the best for November. If you need to cancel a November trip at the last minute, you'd have only three months in which to use your points.

BTW, don't wait for the school calendar to be published before making your plans. Call the school...they should know the dates well in advance.

I agree with Lew, August to November use years will be easiest to bank should you need to cancel. I know I see quite a few Octobers come through the resale market. You might request October.

My impression is that you are buying through Disney at BCV. I'd take the March use year. What use year you have matters not except for the issue of cancellation and then meeting banking deadlines when that occurs. In your situation, I would take March because you get March points from this year and then again in March next year if you are buying from Disney. In other words take the deal that gives you the most points sooner and worry about cancellation issues later. The issue about cancellation is meaningless anyway if you go different times of year and in the 40 years you will have points your usual time of year for going may change numerous times.
