We are thinking of buying an extra contract through TTSS. Please could anybody tell me if there is a disadvantage to having different UY's.
Thank you :confused3

Any disadvantage would be related to possible additional recordkeeping needed to follow banking deadlines and Use Year. Advantages include additional flexibility regarding banking deadlines in the event of cancellation.

We have had as many as four different Use Years at multiple resorts and have, thus far, never lost any points due to missing a banking deadline. There are some very good programs available to help track DVC points, but paper and pencil also works well.

Enjoy! :)

you cannot pool pts from both contracts in order to book a single night's stay unless you transfer the points between the contracts.

you have to remember two separate banking windows (but this can be a benefit if you regularly travel at different times of the year.)

You will also have two completely separate memberships, and as the previous poster said, to pool points for a single night would require a transfer. And as Doc said, you need to track the banking windows. If you're looking at just a small add-on for a few points, I would stick with my original use year, and request Member Accounting to add it to my existing membership but it must be titled exactly the same way as your existing contract to merge it into your current membership number.

We have two UY's and if the resale market wasn't in the tank, we would be selling all of our contracts from one of them.

More things to keep track of and a greater potential for mistakes. Not worth it IMHO.
