Use Year Question

I currently own at AKV and I am waitlisted for points at BCV. My question is this...My UY for AKV is October, if I buy resale is it that much of a problem to have a different UY ? I have been waiting for my UY to come up with the points (75) I am looking for but have had no luck through Disney (ditto for resale). I know buying though Disney they want you to have the same UY. Is there anyone out there with multiple contracts having different use years? What are the pro's / cons? Thanks.

We have contracts with 4 different Use Years at 2 different resorts. While it does require some attention, managing these accounts has not been an issue at all.

We originally used a checking program (MSMoney), but recently have been using Caskbill's DVC Point Tracker (www.caskbill.com) and have also been testing Iankh's MouseManager program (www.mousemanager.com). Both are capable of tracking multiple contracts and reservations. In addition, DVC itself has made tracking much easier since every contract will have information available on the member website.

We have one small renegade contract (different UY). We either transfer into that contract or transfer it out each year to use all the points. We might reserve one or two nights with the smaller contract, bank the rest of the points and then use the other contract to make the rest of the nights.

Why do you need to transfer from the account with a different UY? Is it because it is a different contract number so that MS can't combine it with your other UY?

Exactly. We have five contracts. Four have the same use year and are just additions to the same contract. XXXXX.0, XXXXX.1, XXXXX.2 etc.

The other has a different use year and has a totally different contract number. YYYYY.0
