Use year question with resales

I want to eventually get an OKW resale. I currently have a March use year with BCV. With the resale, would I have to wait until a March use year becomes available or can I just snag the first one that comes up with the amount of points that I want?

I see some people saying that DVC won't let you have a different use year, but if OKW is sold out does that matter> Is it only if you want to add on with DVC and not a resale contract?

Obviously having the same use year would be preferrable, but having the flexibility to get the contract I want would be nice as well.

Zulaya, I was working on these very questions, as I was just shoping for an add-on. My guess is that Dean has the answers!!! Seriuosly though, we bought through DVD (for a couple of reasons), and they will NOT sell an add-on out of your original use year. If you need 150+ pts, you can buy a new master contract in any use year, but then you have multiple member#'s ect...
Seriously though, Dean can probably shed some better light on this.

You can buy any resale that passes Disney's ROFR. I have never heard of them buying back any contract just to prevent someone from getting a different use year.

Many DVC members have purchased resale contracts with a different use year. If you don't mind the extra work managing contracts with different use years, there is no reason to pass up a good deal just because the contract has a different use year than the one(s) you already own.

I think zulaya is looking to buy a contract large enough to stand on it's own (150 or more) in which case DVC won't care what the use years are. Still, best to have the same one in most but not all cases. I'd buy the one that's the best deal for you regardless of use year. DVC has let add on resale packages of less than 150 pts go through at times even if a different use year.
