If I were to buy a contract with a use year of April, could I book our May 2017 trip in June of this year with those points that will be coming in April since I won't actually be using them until May, only booking with them?

Use year has no impact on booking. The points just have to be available for use when you actually check in. So yes you are right about being able to book it like that.

Just try not to over think the use year thing. It matters for remembering when you need to bank points but that's about it. In terms of travel, It only matters what points are available at check in not at booking.

Steps for booking:
1. Determine when you can book (11/7 month window)
2. Determine which use year's points you want to use
3. Bank any points necessary for the trip
4. Book the trip
4a. if necessary, while booking the trip, you can borrow points from the next year

Got it! Thank you! Not nearly as complicated as I was trying to make it. :)

If you get points for the new year on April 1 and you plan to book a trip for May 2017, that would fall in your April 2017 UY. If you planned to use your April 2016 points, you would have to bank them to use them for that trip even if you book the trip in June 2016. You use the points that are current for the time of the trip.

Plus any points in the account that were banked or borrowed or not banked in time would expire 31 March of 2017 before the planned trip.

Hi -
Is the first of the month the 11 month/7 month date or is it different bc of shorter/longer months? Super appreciate the clarification, thanks!

It's always the corresponding date of the 11 month or 7 month. So if you want to book a stay at your home resort for June 12, 2017 you are able to make the reservation on July 12, 2016. June 25, 2017 you would book on July 25, 2016. Nov 4, 2017 you could book starting Dec 4, 2016. And the same for 7 months and so on. The one catch is when the month is longer than the one your want to book - then you book on the 1st of the next month which sometimes means that 2 or even 3 days are booking at the same time that normally is spread out over individual days.

Thank you, I finally get it
