Use year question (Again)

If DH and I plan to vacation in the Adventure season mostly (Jan. or December), would I be best off looking for a use year 11 months before that?

I must not be a great spacial thinker. This is giving me a headache!!

NO! That would probably be the worst idea, because if you had to cancel a ressie, you would lose your points. It's too late to bank, by then. We have use years in Feb and March, and using a contract for December is a scary proposition if you think you may have to cancel a ressie. If I were you I would get a summer or fall use year so you have lots of time after December or January to use the points if you needed to. Also, your kids won't be young forever, so you have to think about the school year.

I'd do late fall through December with nothing earlier than August for this plan. And yes, I do feel it's worth waiting for the right contract including use year for many people.

Points usage is based on the dates of stay, not when you make the reservations. So if you want to make a December 2004 reservation this month (11 months), they look at the points you will have available in December 2004 no matter what your use year is, not what you have available as of today's date.

Thank you very much! I was concerned because I believe they are selling Feb. use years right now for SSR. My DH would like to buy in to SSR around June. (Any guesses as to the use year at that point?)

We're hoping to take our first trip "home" in December (the early part of the month) this year.

Thanks for explaining that to me. It's a bit tricky when I read bits and pieces at a time - my little ones don't let me get much dedicated time to concentrate on things like this!

Altough I think we'll be spending quite a bit of time at the BCV for the pool area when the kids are still little, the 50 years is a perk for us since we're pretty young (28 and 31) and we can use it as we get older along with our children and their children (hopefully!)

This forum has been invaluable to us! I really look forward to getting to know all of you - and hopefully we'll even be able to come to the December get together that is being planned!
