Use year and SSR incentives....I'm confused

My vacation guide told me that one of the SSR incentives is receiving 2007 points. She told me that if I buy now, my use year would start in September, and I would receive the same number of points from 2007. If this is correct, then all those points would expire in 5 months, right?(And I guess by the time I am regestered that it will be less than 4 months) Also, I saw on another thread that you have much more limited booking the last 120 days of your use year. So if I understand this correctly, the I basically wouldn't be able to use those at all. I guess I figured that I could have used them at a concierge spot, but you can't do this the last 120 days. My other question is this. I'm hoping to go to Disney in early December 2009. If my use year starts September, than my 2008 points would be expired then, right? I truly hope that I'm misunderstanding this, because I guess i was planning on calling today to buy. Thanks to all whom reply.

Let me try to help

The 2007 points would expire 8/31/08 (for September use year) however if you won't be able to use them before then, you can bank them into your 08 year.

The 08 use year points (and the banked points) will expire 8/31/09, so you won't be able to use them for your Dec 09 trip.

Are you not planning to go to Disney until Dec 09? How often do you plan to go to Disney? If it's not often or you won't be going soon, DVC may not be right for you or it may not be the right time to join.

If you bank the 2007 points you can use them between Sept 2008 and Aug 31 2009 for whichever collection or resort you wish within the booking guidelines for your choice. Then you could bank the 2008 points into 2009 and use them for your Dec 2009 trip. You would be able to make the reservations for that in January 2009.

Thanks so much..... this makes much more sense now. We usually go to Disney every other year (were just there in March), but if we belong to DVC we may go more often. Plus, family and friends are really wanting us to buy so they can go to Disney more often as well.
