Use-year and 2042....

I was thinking about an add-on and I was thinking that Dec might be a dandy use-year for our needs, but what happens on the last use-year?

Would you get your points in Dec 2041 and then have 2 months to use them? Would this compress the demand somewhat?

DVC has made no announcement about how the last couple of years will be handled...and I don't expect any for another 38 years.

I will also assume that whatever is done regarding 2042 will allow all members a fair opportunity to use their last allotments of points. I would anticipate banking and borrowing being suspended at some point prior to 2042 and some allowance made for the final use year for members.

You have said that a bunch of times Doc, if we don't get some sort of allowance made, we are really going to have to hold your feet to the fire.

Webmaster Doc is right. There's been a lot of speculation on this board, with widely differing opinions -- but no offical word from DVC Management.

Given that DVC points are simply a vehicle for conveying usage that corresponds to our real estate interest, it seems a near certainty to me that our final allocation of points will be adjusted to represent our available usage beween the beginning of our use year month and the end of the DVC program.

The big uncertainty is whether the DVC resort program will be "renewed" -- and when (and at what price) to current members and their heirs. In other words what will happen to the existing DVC resorts when the current program ends? I've stated before that the person who will make that decision might not even be born yet.

Extension or not, common sense would dictate that there will need to be some adjustments the last couple of years. There are simply not enough units for everyone to use every point for every use year at the end and be done by the ending date.

This is a very important matter to me because I will be 100 in 2042 and I am sure I will be looking for a one bedroom unit on the ground floor at OKW or one of the units with an elevator. I am really concerned about this matter. I will help hold docs feet to the fire until we get an answer to this matter!!!

I wish this were a concern of ours, but in 40 years we will be too old to care!!!!!!!!! That would make my husband 97 and me 96. Of course, if we were no longer on this earth it would become our children's problem. Boo Hoo---I probably won't be around to dream about a DVC vacation.

There probably won't be any real fire in 2042,more likely something synthetic,possibly a hologram.And Doc's feet will more then likely have been replaced with something along the lines of a "segway".

All DVC resorts converted in to *Nursing Home Facilities* for us die-hard DVCer's. Who says is has to end in 2042! I'll just come back and haunt in my next life. Hey, I can get a P/T job at the HM.

Indeed. They will be renting walkers instead of strollers, and selling DVC logo Depends at the WL Mercantile. Although we may be eating through a straw, I will be there watching Rich collect a bet from Doc!
