Use Year actually begins on the last day of the previous month?

I've been a DVC member for less than year, but have been a lurker and hardcore researcher for almost two years.

Everything I have ever come across regarding UY led me to believe that my new points would be available for travel on the first day of my UY month.

I have an October UY. Poking around my DVC points dashboard today, it says that 2025 points are "eligible for travel September 30, 2025 to September 29, 2026" and so on down the line for each year of points.

A small difference - kind of? - and maybe I'm tired and high on DVC points math overload the last few days - but this is blowing my mind?! Why does the UY start on the last day of the previous month? And why does every source I have ever encountered say that it starts on the first day of the UY month? Is this just not common knowledge? Did it change? Am I hallucinating? Is my contract weird? Are October UYs weird?

I just googled "Understanding DVC Use Year" and can quickly find multiple sources like *******, DVC Field Guide, DVC Resale, random Redditors LOL, that all say your points are available day 1 of your UY month. The DVC official website's own definition of UY is a bit nondescript, and just says, "Your Use Year is determined at the time you purchase your Ownership Interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort and marks the time each year when you receive a new allotment of Vacation Points."

I think the dashboard is wrong. Points begin on the first of the month of your use year. Not the last day of the month prior.
Certainly seems like a feasible explanation given the number of site glitches I see reported. And I suppose it would make me feel less like I'm losing my mind.

For clarity's sake, I'm looking at the "Vacation Points Overview" page (tab My DVC > My Vacation Points)

Yes I am seeing the same thing, the dates are off by a day. It's a glitch in the programming, nothing has changed with use years.

There's a saying we have:

"The two hardest things in computer science are naming things, cache invalidation and off-by-one errors."

It's true.
He he! And as a now retired computer science professor, I don’t understand how the off-by-one errors don’t get caught during software testing/validation. Those should be among the most obvious test cases to create, and any competent developer should have been exposed to the potential for error in their first programming course.

You think Disney has competent developers? I don't. Based on the things I've seen gently reverse engineering their app APIs and the history of bizarre technical problems, I think Disney hired Dennis Nedry after the dilophosaurus got done with him.

EDIT: Or to put it more snarky, this did get captured during testing/validation, it just turns out we're the QA group
:lmao:
