Use EE for DL or California Adventure?

Hello all. I'm planning our August visit and will only have 1 EE. I'm leaning towards using the EE for California Adventure.

If you are talking about the 1 early entry day that you get with a 3-day or more PH ticket...I believe that is only good at DL. The early entry days at DCA are for resort guests.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...but that's how it used to be.

You say you have 1 EE and are leaning towards DCA.

No leaning necessary for EE at DCA, it's only a perk for onsite guests.

There is a difference between EE (Early Entry) and MM (Magic Morning)

Guests staying at one of the three DLR hotels will have EE.
Guests not staying onsite, with a three day or more ticket (advanced purchases only) will generally have one MM for Disneyland only.

This topic comes up often. EE, MM do seem like the same thing until you read the fine print.
Best to find out before the trip how MM and EE work.

Disneyland's days are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
California Adventure's are Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I honestly hope at some point they open up EE to both parks. But for now it is only good at Disneyland.

As I read your response it sounds like EE is only at Disneyland. I think you meant MM...

I've heard at PEAK times (Christmas/New Years) Disney has had EE at both parks on the same days.

It always surprises me how many people there are in DCA during an EE morning. The only time it's not too bad is a 7am EE.

While it would be nice to have the option of either park for MM. I feel it would take away from the perk of staying onsite.

It surprises me how many people line up for EMH at DCA only to be turned away, sometimes it seems more guests are turned away than actually enter. One morning 3 large groups (at least 20 individual guests) immediately in front of me in line were all turned away for a 7AM EMH, at least none of these guests gave the CM a hard time.

I love Magic Hour! It's worth staying at the resort just for that in my opinion! So much can Get done in just 1 hour!

I agree that it is confusing. EE and MM all sounds the same. I'm looking forward to using EE into DCA. This June will be our first time staying at a Disneyland hotel (normally we stay off-site). I'm not sure if the kids are looking forward to 7am. They like to sleep in. We can sleep on the plane ride home.

Sorry I meant MM, we are not staying on property but have multi day tickets with on MM.

Sorry, I meant MM. We aren't staying on property but have multi day passes. We get there on a Sunday, I was thinking of using the MM on Monday for California Adventure.

OK, didn't know that.

It can get a little confusing but the short version is that with 3+ day tickets you get early admission into Disneyland Park on one day. The only way to get early admission into DCA is by staying at one of the DLR hotels.

Here is the information from the Disneyland website:

Magic Morning

Find out how Disneyland Resort Guests (with valid 3+ day ticket) can enjoy one early admission to Disneyland Park.

Magic Morning at Disneyland Park
With Magic Morning, an early admission option, Disneyland Resort Guests (with valid 3+ day ticket) enjoy one early admission (during the duration of theme park ticket or Southern California CityPASS) to select attractions, stores, entertainment and dining locations in Disneyland park for one full hour before the parks open to the general public on select days.
To enhance the early entry experience, it is strongly recommended that Guests arrive at least one hour and 15 minutes prior to regular park opening.

Magic Morning at Disneyland Park
Magic Morning at Disneyland Park is only available for Guests who:

Schedule for Magic Morning
Magic Mornings at Disneyland Park are available during these select days:

    • Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday
Know Before You Go

    • Valid theme park tickets must be purchased in advance of Resort arrival. Southern California CityPASS may be purchased in advance or at the Main Entrance Ticket Booth.
    • For admission, each eligible Guest (ages 3 and older) must have one of the valid theme park tickets listed above.
    • Applicable days and times of operation and all other elements including, but not limited to, operation of attractions, entertainment, stores and restaurants and appearances of Characters may vary and are subject to change without notice.
    • Subject to capacity, cancellation and other restrictions.

How many days are you doing the parks? You will want to use your MM at DL one day, but if possible you will also want to be at rope drop at DCA on a day they DO NOT have EE. It isn't fun to be one of the "first" in the park only to find lines at the top attractions.

We fly down on a Sunday, should be in the parks by 2pm and will be in the parks until Wednesday. Wednesday will be a full park day for us.

I was going to do:

Sunday DL
Monday CA
Tuesday DL
Wednesday split between both parks

So you use your MM on Tuesday at DL. That's the only day during your trip that it is offered. Also you may find yourself parkhopping sooner than Wednesday. It's easy and a great way to maximize your options.

That will still work fine. Even though on both Monday and Wednesday the hotel guests will get into DCA early - by having two mornings there ( I would start there Wednesday), you can just prioritize different rides each of those days and you will have a great time!

Agree with Jkpark. EE/MM affects Disneyland way more than DCA. Since only hotel guests can get into DCA early, there are a lot less people there during the EE, so starting your Wednesday there isn't so bad. Just get a FP for one must ride and head straight to another. I think the one downside is that Toy Story will already have a line, but it will still be shorter than the rest of the day and still may be a good choice to start with.
