Use Car or WDW buses?

Hi -

I was wondering what most people do. With children, ages 2, 4, 6 and 8 yrs., would you use the WDW buses from the ASMovies to the parks or would you use your car?

I've been to WDW three times, the first two times I only used WDW buses but there were only adults on those trips, the last time we used the car.

I really hated the long trek from the parking lots to the park gates! I just don't know if it's feasible to use the buses when you have kids to transport.

What do you think?

Thanks!

For most parks, do whatever you think is easiest for you. For MK I'd definately take the bus, it drops you right at MK, otherwise you transfer from car to tram to boat/monorail.

If your kids aren't the type that run around but listen to you, take the bus. Many families do without a problem.

If you want to go to AK for EMH (and you are staying on site), take the bus. The parking lot opens later than the buses arrive, so you might miss most of the EMH. Agree on MK. Always take the bus.

We have 4 children also. Oldest is now 20. Initially we used bus transportation only. In 2001 we brought a tag along camper and stayed at FW. We used the car for transportation. We don't drive to WDW anymore, but always rent a car. I don't know how we ever got along without it. I agree with above, about taking the bus for MK. Only draw back is if you have a big stroller like we do. We have driven to Epcot and used the monorail to MK so we would not have to fold up the stroller.

Good Luck.

Use Disney Transportation. Closer to gates and you don't have to deal with traffic and can relax.

We last went to Disney in Aug 04 and we rented a car. I have children ages 4 and 18months. It was great. We stayed at AKL and drove to all the parks. We also booked our vacation through AAA so we got a special parking pass and were able to park in the AAA diamond parking lot which was located next to the Handicapped parking. It was great with two young kids because if they fell asleep we could easily transfer them from stroller to car seat. We took the bus one time and it was awful because both kids fell asleep and my husband and i had to figure out how to get on the bus with two sleeping drowsy kids and two strollers. We are going again in feb and will rent a car again along with getting the AAA pass. Good luck with your choice.

We like the busses. Especially if it is hot, who wants to get into a hot car? You may find it more convenient to drive, but always take the bus to the MK!

One of my favorite parts of WDW is that I never need to drive. I like being driven around especially at the end of the day when not only the kids are tired but the adults as well. I also liked getting dropped off near the park gates. There is so much walking...we generally don't have any energy left for a parking lot hike. I like the idea of the AAA parking. Anyone who prefers driving should jump on that idea.

Wow! I must have been at the wrong resort! I was at POP (which I love) the first week in Oct. and the bus service was terrible!!!! We waited on the bus for 30 minutes to take us to MK, then when we wanted to leave it was another 1 1/2 hour or more to get back to the resort. We only rode the bus once -- and that is all it took. My DH is a truck driver and he navigated just fine around WDW. I would not want my children to wait for a bus that long -- it was after midnight before we arrived back to the POP. Will I return to the POP, you betcha!!! I just will drive, or rather my DH will drive. :cool1:

Car...without question. The lines at MK are always long for the All Star resorts, and those busses are packed. Then you hope you have a place for the kids to sit, because there are plenty of selfish people who won't give up their seats. While everyone else is packed in yet another line, you take a leisurely ride on the tram, jump in your car, and have a peaceful drive back.
