Use Alamo Kiosk or go straight to drive out booth?

Last year when we rented from Alamo (we are insider members) we just went out to the garage, picked a car from the class we reserved and drove to the gate attendant booth and handed our paperwork to the attendant. I notice people have mentioned going to the kiosk first and then picking their car. Do I need to go to the kiosk first? Thanks.

In Orlando, if you are an Insider member you do NOT have to go to the kiosk first. You can pick your car from the appropriate aisle and drive it straight to the booth. This was personally tested by Len Testa of the Unofficial Guide a couple of months ago!

Thank you! And I love your website - it's been very helpful to us on our trips to Disney.

I thought if one was using a coupon (paper or simply online code) you had to use the kiosk. That's how it was last time we rented from Alamo but that was almost 2 yrs ago & before "Insider" program began.

What Mary said above is correct, I have done this also.

Well, that's great news! Now we can get on the road even faster :goodvibes
I always thought that you had to have the receipt (issued at the kiosk) to present at the booth.

I think we will continue to use the kiosk. I trust myself to go through the steps correctly vs the booth attendant. I can see any problems right at the kiosk vs being pressured to pull out of the booth before checking the final rental total.

How do you know what the appropriate aisle is? I'm late asking because we arrive tomorrow!!

The aisles are marked by car type, so if you rented a fullsize (for example) you'd go to the fullsize aisle.

Keep in mind that reserving a standard size (generally less costly than a full size) at MCO will wind up giving you a full size, as there actually are no standards at MCO.

Have you actually done this? I've considered trying it but thought they might bump us down to a midsize.

We had this happen to us last year. We had a "FREE" upgrade coupon code thru Costco. We rented a "Mid Size" and was upgraded to a "STANDARD". We picked up a full size Chevy Impala. Well the key fob for the door locks stopped working on the 2nd day we had the car. So we needed to exchange it. Because no "full size" cars were available, they gave us a midsize car instead. So much for the coupon  But...the good news is, we got a BRAND NEW chevy malibu. There were less than 300 miles on the car. so I didn't complain. ;)

You can also check in online before you leave home. Print your documents at home. Get the car and show the paperwork at the exit booth.

I think, if that was me, I would have asked for the next grade up, premium or whatever. They were giving you a car grade less than what you reserved. If not better, I would have at least gotten a reduction in cost.

Nopt sure if you can do an online check in if you have a coupon. Someone will know.

Correct, you can't checkin online if you have a coupon attached to the reservation. You can do it with a contract ID that provides a discount, but not a coupon.
