USB on cricut?

This may be a dumb question, but I'm wondering why my cricut has a USB connection on the back? Does this mean I can hook it up to the computer? I read the directions and didn't see anything about it. I'm having so much fun with my new toy!!

they are releasing software sometime this year to use with your PC (no Mac compatibility ) to be able to expand their cartridges. It will allow you to rotate the image and weld the letters together.

I saw on another board someone was buying this and going to try to hack the USB protocol (a computer geek board - yes I'm a bit of one of those too). I never saw the end result of this - and would be a bit amazed if they were able to. I think this software will actually make it easier to do that, but would likely void any kind of waranty or tech help you may need.

I haven't broken down and bought a cricut - just can't justify it to myself or my hubby (even with my bonus) as I just got a wishblade this year. Really need to figure out how to cut characters with that!
