USAirways

My DH was a little leery about flying Spirit out of AC, too, until we actually did it. Now, he only wants to fly with them! That smaller airport really makes a huge difference.

Unfortunately, Orlando is the only place Spirit flies, non-stop, or we would be using them for all our trips!

or...

I booked a usair flight through United. For some weird reason it was cheaper than booking through USAIR (SAME EXACT FLIGHTS). Also, I feel that if for some reason USAIR does close, the United would have to honor the tickets without any additional service charges.

I did the exact same thing ~ booked USAir through united.com. Same itinerary was $40 less at the United site.
One reason we fly USAir is that they fly direct to Orlando from DC/Reagan. United and Independence Air both are direct, but only from Dulles. I wish there were more carriers who flew direct out of Reagan.

My sister just booked her tickets on US Air for end of August beginning of September. I hope this wasn't a mistake...
Hopefully they'll be OK

Just keep in mind that United has its own money troubles. USAirways is doing better than United in that respect.

I almost posted nearly these exact words.

I like either Dulles or National but prefer National. US Airways has great flight schedules for me from National- I can leave work at 5:30 PM and be in Orlando by 10 PM.

If Southwest flew out of National I'd probably never fly any other airline again.

Nala -

Yeah, I'm with you on this one...
National is only about 15 minutes from my house, door to door. I'd *much* rather fly out of National than either of the other two DC area airports. Dulles is about an hour away(depending on traffic), and BWI is about an hour...again, depending on traffic.

For our mid-April wedding Anniversary(our 20th!!!), we decided to go with Independence Air out of Dulles to MCO. The fare was just too good to resist, especially compared to USAir/etc out of National-Reagan. Going down we connect through Greensboro - but that leg was only $49. Coming back we have a non-stop - that leg was $99. (But we only really started seriously looking about two weeks ago, so I feel fine with the deal we got :teeth: .)

Southwest out of National?...hmmm, well, I can dream, can't I?

agnes!

Another thing to consider...there has been talk of US Airways and United merging. This could throw route planning into a tizzy, and there could be some big changes systemwide.

We booked with UsAir for July. $182 round trip out of phl non stop.
Picked our own seats/huge plus :earsboy:
I have never had any problems/Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Agnes! how ya been?

Independence Air is great, I took it down to Fla. in February and will again in April. They had us in a regular size plane, not one of those small ones. You'll enjoy flying with them.

I take public transportation to the airports and National has the best because the Metro stops right there. I live within walking distance of a Metro station and never have to move my car to get there.

I've been taking the Washington Flyer bus to Dulles so I can fly on Independence and Ted. It's $8 one way or $14 round trip, and I pick it up at the West Falls Church station which is very close to my home station.

I can go to BWI using a combination of Metrobus/Metrorail, which ends up costing about $4 for the Metro and $3 for the bus (each way) unless I remember to get a transfer, but unless I leave from work downtown I need to allow about 3 hours to get to the airport, especially on weekends.
