Has anyone ever flown US AIR? When I received our flight schedule this morning I was a little nervous about the size of the plane that we are booked on. I don't know much about airplanes and have only flown once so maybe some of you can help me. I believe it is US AIR Express and it is an Embraer 145 Regional Jet with a seating compacity of approxiamtely 50 people. I would like to hear from anyone that has had experience with this particular airline or plane? Are there any differences flying on a big or small airplane other than the size of it? I also thought that it was kind of weird that we were flying US Air to Orlando but, they booked us on Delta coming home. Has anyone ever flown two different carriers?

MY DAUTHER & I FLEW DELTA IN FEB 04 ON A 50 SEATER. I WAS A BIT NERVOUS. IT WAS JUST FINE. IN FACT, WE RECEIVED BETTER ATTENTION ON THE SMALLER PLANE. IF YOU PLAN TO CHECK YOUR BAGS IN THE OVERHEAD, IT IS "GREAT" WITH THESE SMALL PLANES, THEY WILL TAKE THEM FROM YOU, AS YOUR BOADING THE PLANE & PUT THEM UNDER THE PLANE. WHEN LANDING, YOUR LUGGAGE WILL BE OUTSIDE THE PLANE WAITING FOR YOU.
NO NEED TO CHECK THEM IN.

WE ALSO EXPERIENCED 2 DIFFERNENT CARRIERS ON THE TRIP ABOVE. AMERICAN DOWN 747, & DELTA BACK (50 SEATER). IT WAS FUN ON BOTH.WE BOOKED THRU TRAVELOITY.

I flew many of the Embracer jets on Continental and LOVED them. They have a 38 and a 50 seater version. It always seems to be a super smooth flight (even in not-so-great weather) and the best part to me is getting off quickly. Nothing worse than a huge plane full of hundreds of people moving VERY slowly to exit the plane.

You'll love the regional jet. It's smaller in size - but more seat room - and will be newer too.....

Interesting that they booked you on two different airlines - but - I'm sure that cost was the deciding factor...

Has anybody read about USAir going out of business? There was something yesterday, but I haven't seen anything more. We are cruising in June and have bought our airline tickets. If they do go out of business, what happens to our already paid for tickets? Will another airline honor them? Thanks.

USAirways is a great airline. They are having money problems but nothing will be happening until the fall at the earliest. If something should happen other airlines would honor the tickets.

USAirways is moving to smaller regional jets in more locations. They aren't bad and if you get one of the new jets the overhead bins are larger so you don't have to check your suitcase at the door.

My flying one way with your tickets you will be subject for a more extensive security search. You are considered a risk because of the one way status. Never understand why agencies do that but just allow extra time.

Enjoy the ERJ-145 as they are a great airplane. Most if not all airlines are moving to "regional jets".

These planes are newer than the majority of the larger planes that are out there. The avionics in the cockpit are state of the art and from a pilots perspective, they are great to fly.

The seating is 2-1 and the windows are larger (or at least they appear to be).

Service tends to be more attentive since there are fewer people on board.

These planes are made in South America and because of that, pilots tend to call them "jungle jets". Nothing is meant to be derogitory though because as I mentioned above, they are truly a fun plane to fly on.

I would never pass up a ride in an ERJ.

Just remember that your typical rollaboard suitcase will not be allowed to come onto the plane, they will be left at the door to the plane, loaded underneath, and brought back up to the door at your destination. So, if there's anything you want to bring onboard with you, you'll need to bring a small backpack or something similar. The overhead storage bins are much smaller than on a larger plane ( plus usually there's no overhead storage on the "one seat side" of the plane).

As far as USAir going out of business, they just came out of bankruptcy protection in the last year, as a result of the downturn that all airlines took after 9/11. People are concerned that Southwest Airlines is coming to Philadelphia (which is one of USAir's largest hubs) in May and will hurt their bottom line. About ten years ago, Southwest came into Baltimore (then another USAir hub) and over time, USAir abandoned their hub there, so there is concern that could happen again in Philly.

If USAir, or any other airline for that matter, would completely shut down operations, other carries will generally honor passengers' tickets on a space available basis. However, I wouldn't be worried about that happening for your June trip.

just checked in now and got my seats, of course the plane is almost full so the four of use are in 2 separate rows ( one in front of another but my daughter will sit with one of the boys and me with the other. So excited. DW we will be there tomorrow, thanks everyone for everything.
