I'm coming Kimmer, bringing Sally and some of Team Panda. We are staying friday before the race and saturday after the race so we can check out the sites.
Linda - In Dayton Ohio at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. I've heard nothing but great things about this race and the medals are big and heavy and change every year by the type of Aircraft they chose. This year is the B-52.
The course map with the elevation chart is here. It looks pretty flat. The chart seems like it has some peaks but if you look at the scale the total elevation change really isn't that high.
I have heard it is a really good race from people who have run it. It is on the list of Ohio halves I haven't done yet so I can't comment personally. I have heard that the half course is pretty good but miles 12 - 18 around the back of the runways can be a bit boring if you are doing the full.
Can't wait for this race. The medals look really nice. I just have to figure out when to get over to pick up my packet. Hopefully Thursday right after work.
Hi all
I did the 10K last year. A few tips I learned from last year that might help people out.
1. The 5K starts and ends at the expo. Picking up packets during this time could mean long waits.
2. If you are doing the half marathon I would avoid gate 22B on the map. The 10K and Full Marathon go right by that gate and caused backup getting to the parking lot. If you are coming up I-675 I would exit onto Col. Glenn Highway and head to the Spinning Gate if there's a backup getting into gate 22B.
3. The expo around the concourse of the Nutter Center. Plan on making your purchases as you work your way around or you will need to go around twice.
All in all it is a good race. Good luck and Have fun.
