Hi,

Does anyone know when most states go back to school after the summer term? I would like to visit next August but would like to avoid the busiest times if possible.

Thanks very much

We were there the first two weeks in Aug and they started trickling back to school then. Like in the UK the schools all go back at different times but seemed most of them nationaly were back first week in Aug with Florida going back the second week.

Certainly our second week was alot quieter.

My kids went back on 8/24. I have read on other threads some start up tomorrow. Unfortunately, there are just as many different start dates as there is schools.

Just got back yesterday, universal, IOA, seaworld and Busch gardens were very quiet, hardly queued for any rides. so would recommend last 10 days in August, looked like most americans were back at school.

We always go to Florida in the last two weeks in August. We have been told several times by CMs that it is the best time to visit Florida in the summer. Floridian kids go back mid August and the parks really seem to empty. Last year we went to MGM on a Friday - one of the busier days and it was practically empty. Different school districts have different start dates and some dont return until the end of August.
I have never had to queue for longer than 10 mins at this time of year.

Most of our schools have started but the south tends to go back in early Aug.
A few schools are trying out going after Labor Day, they all may go to that in our state :flower: Michigan

most of the florida schools went back this year on August 11....that's pretty typical for them...and many southern states go back in mid-august, so you'll be safe with the second half of August....we were in WDW the week of August 16th to August 24th and it seemed practically empty (especially after our visit just the month before in July, when it was psychotically crowded)...

as for the person in Michigan.....all the schools in the district where my family lives go back after labor day and always have (at least for the past 50 years, which is always as far as i'm concerned)....i don't know where you live, but i'm in suburban detroit, where the schools will go back this week (after labor day).....

which brings to mind, you can't generalize for US schools and you can't say anything definitive by state....each school district makes its own rules...
