This might not happen this weekend as I am heading to the ocean (lovely gray rocky Washington beaches) for some Auntie Kari time with my sister's family. It is clamming season which means something to them--I will be on the sidelines as the cheer squad (I might be rooting for the clams).

Would like to wrap this up by April so stay tuned.

Okay, the end of the trip is here---last day and half.

Wednesday Oct 12

Mom and I are going to Hollywood Studios this morning. We started with no-wait meets with Red Carpet Minnie and Sorcerer Mickey.

Then it was a stop to see the Muppets and check out the construction walls.

I did a solo jaunt through hyperspace on Star Tours—my least favorite destination is definitely Coruscant.

An opportunity for a Speeder photo op.

We continued along Echo Lake, picked up some Starbucks and did some shopping on Sunset Ave. Got some new sunglasses—last day of the trip, better late than never. Went to use our FP+ at Toy Story Mania—mom smoked me again. Sigh, I am still a lowly rabbit to her beaver on the carnival game circuit.

We walked through One Man’s Dream before parting ways at Hollywood Brown Derby. I was going to Dine with an Imagineer at the Brown Derby.

Our Imagineer was a facilities designer-he was very personable and shared a very personal perspective. You could tell he took pride in his work. Some of his projects include the Tangled bathrooms, Main Street Starbucks, guest relations building at Downtown Disney, Hong Kong main street and the Poly lobby refurb.

The food was very good—for me, the desserts are the weakest link here. At the end, we each received a signed plate to mark the event.

After lunch, I wanted to watch the March of the First Order again—I started outside the Trolley Café. Once they passed, I walked to the front by the crossroads and watched them walk back.

I was back on the bus by 3:30 and off to the resort where I tackled the packing job.

I got most of it done before mom and I headed out to Animal Kingdom. But before we left, Dad joined us for our free DVC 25th Anniversary celebration photopass pic. I don’t think I explained the photo booth concept well—one normal then mix it up….my parents didn’t move past the where do we look point.

Our first stop at AK was the safari—easy walk on. Pretty good painted dogs and lion view tonight. In my experience, so far, the evening safari rides seem bumpier—drivers still adjusting? At least that is my excuse for some blurry pics....

Mom was hungry so we walked out of Africa and into Pizzafari. Mom ordered tomato soup and onion knots. That was interpreted as tiramisu and onion knots. I had already charged my band when mom noticed the error on the receipt. A manager had to come over to sort it out—after 5 minutes, we were credited the tiramisu and given the tomato soup at no charge.

Thursday 13 Oct—heading home today

Checkout day—going to AK for a couple hours to take in some entertainment. First, my dad and I had to sort out the bill at guest services—I had put all the dining charges on my magic band since the TIW card was in my name. Dad and I also did one more photo shoot with the DC kiosks.

Back in the park I walked straight to Africa because I was looking for my Kidani hot tub stilt walker friend. On the way, stopped for some final photopass pics by the entrance to the bridge.

I watched the drummers wrap up their set and then shortly after, Muziki came out and it was him! He recognized me—gave me an African name, “Kati” (I googled it—means pure). I was heading towards the safari to use my FP+--he said to look for his mother the giraffe (makes sense when you see his costume).

Dwayne, our safari guide, was hilarious—fortunate to see the mandrill with her baby today.

Next I tried something new—watching the Flights of Wonder show for the first time. It is a very freaky feeling when a hawk flies mere inches above your head, twice. The show was fun—would definitely watch again.

Can you spot the gerbil like critter?

I used my final FP+ to visit Mickey and Minnie at the Adventure Outpost.

I timed my walk out of the park so that I could catch DeVine at the entrance—she is amazing and so graceful.

We spent the last couple hours at the resort taking photos of the animals and art.

It was a wonderful experience and even though I was gone over two weeks, the trip seemed over just like that. Already planning for when I can go back---thanks for reading along.

Great sum up and looks like the last two days were great. Love the plate you got at Brown Derby! Looks like lovely food. I love your photos the DVC booths are good.

Nice to catch two safaris and I love that AK guy on stilts and him giving you an African name!

Sounds like a wonderful trip and I have really enjoyed reading. Glad you managed to get your photos!

I had not realised that there are multiple shows. I think that would have been something I would have really liked.

I keep want to do this, but never got around to this.

Wow! That was a quick wrap up. Switching to a new site there was a bit of a learning curve and some of your text was "hot" so multi quoting was difficult, so I'll just go with my memory (which is not so good!)

Nice use of FP+ for some great character shots. Too bad your parents didn't quite grab the concept of one serious, mix it up for the rest. You got some great cat pictures. The Cheetah was amazing and the Lion wasn't bad at all either!

What room did you stay in in Kidani Village? It looks like you had great views. My daughter is dying to see zebras (she cried last time we went to AK because she loves zebras so much and we didn't see any that day), so I want to try and get a room where we have a chance at seeing zebras.

Any recommendations for Kidani? We are staying in a savannah view studio. Any tips help!!

Hi there,

Having stayed at both Kidani Village and Jambo House now, we agree that Kidani is our favorite location. In this case, we did ask for a room close to the lobby--the savannah view studio we stayed in was on the 5th floor. the first room around the corner from the elevators that you take by the lobby. It overlooked the Sunset Savannah and there were always a variety of animals to see.
