Hi there! I am getting frustrated reading all these fantastic tips on the US boards but not being able to get the supplies I need here. So, please could I have some help:

-MOLESKIN do we have anything like this for blisters here?
What is a good blister remedy?
-I D TAGS Where can I get/ how do I make good ID tags for my kids?

I am sure there are more and I will add to the list when I remember but if anyone can help with these for now, this will help my stress levels. Please feel free to add to this yourself.
BTW I am not flaming the US Disers. It is purely jealousy of their wonderful ideas that has caused this thread.
Much love and pixie dust,
Claire:bounce:

I just thought of 2 more- ziplock bags and fanny packs. I'm sure they're the same as what we used to call bumbags, but I threw mine out years ago (sorry, I'm a bit of a fashion victim LOL)

You can get moleskin from Boots - I think it's a Scholl product. Look in the foot care section :)

You can get zip lock plastic bags from any supermarket - look near the sandwich bag section :)

Fanny pack = Bum bag :)
Check out sports shops for these or places like Salisburys etc.

ID tags - a subject dear to my heart!

I saw this great idea on the US family board and emailed them to see if they deliver to the UK. Although their system isn't set up to cover international postage, if you order one more set than you actually want, that will cover the cost of postage. You can always email them, just to let them know what you're doing - they're very friendly and very prompt at replying!

There are also some wristbands for sale on Ebay - here Just hope you don't want the pink ones - cos I do!! ;)

You've probably seen this thread on the subject - but just in case you haven't...:D

One good tip we got when we were preparing for our disney holiday was to give our kids their pocket money in dollars for a few months before so by the time we went they had saved a reasonable amount.

Hi

Boots also do their own version of Moleskin - Blisteaze (sp?) - its usually with all the foot care stuff - corn plasters etc.

Suprisingly a lot of luggage type stores sell 'bumbags'. I wouldn't be seen wearing mine in the UK, but around the parks in US its invaluable.

For ID tags, I got a few of those wrist bands you get given in hospital & they worked a dream. Bumbags can often be found with travel plugs & the pillows in large department stores.

Thank you everyone for your great replies. There are a lot of experts out there. Bexx, I think I actually spotted these shoe tags for sale in the DIS shop but have not checked out international mailing onsite.
Bubbles uk, the kids are earning dollars as we speak by being well behaved, going to bed nicely etc. They are only 3 and 5 so this is the best way for them to earn money. We are compiling a sticker chart. Each sticker is worth 10cents, so they know that every 10 they achieve, they will get a Disney dollar. Of course, we have to wait till we get there to get these as there is no way to get disney dollars in the uk.
I will be looking in Boots for the footcare.
Thanks once again and please keep them coming,
Claire

Look out for the brand name of Compeed for blister plasters, I got some in Sainsburys and they should be available in any pharmacy and even hiking or camping shops. They do not roll up while you are walking they stay in place even after swimming and a lot of walking ... stick very well.

Also, a little vaseline put around your toes will work wonders as a preventative. We were in Florida for three weeks, I got five blisters within the first week before I tried the vaseline and then got none after that!

thank you Halo, these are perfect.

For children, you can also create your own "dollars" on your computer. Then they can do their own "currency" exchange once you've arrived.

NotUrsula, could you explain how to do that for me? sounds interesting...

Hi Claire,

I'm only guessing but what I would do is "design" my own Disney Dollars eg with Mickey and a number to stand for $1, $5 etc - maybe different colours or chacters for different denominations - and then when you get there, swap them for real Disney dollars. So you could say take $35 of your "pretend" ones for your children and then buy then $35 of Disney dollars in exchange. Hope that makes sense!

Cheers

Karen
