US STOPPING ALL FLIGHTS INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM EUROPE FOR 30 DAYS.

My son landed at JFK at 10:30 this morning from Paris.

They were held on the plane while the CDC came on and checked their temperatures.

His was the first flight to be checked at JFK by the CDC.

He and everyone in his group had no temperature and were allowed on their way.

Upon returning to his apartment tomorrow, he will self quarantine. Meanwhile, today he is in debriefing from his mission trip and can site see until his flight out for home at 5 PM tomorrow.

He is not aware of having come in contact with anyone with the virus.

Having 852 rolls of toilet paper in your house is NOT preparation it is full on panic. The stores running out of hand soap (have you seen the containers in Walmart full of these little bottles before this??) is not preparation it is panic.

A LOT of going on is panic not preparation.

It seems not many agree with the decision as according to experts it won’t do much if anything to stop the spread of the virus now that it is already in the USA. I suspect it will also be a disaster for the tourism industry in the States, which depends on the many British (and European) visitors who come every year.

It may not stop the spread of the virus but the U.S., like Canada is trying to slow it down so it doesn't overwhelm our hospitals. Seen as majority of the cases have come from people that have traveled outside of the country. Why so many want to fly here when so much is closed to beyond me? You will be stuck in your hotel for the most part at this point.

Many things in our economy are already beginning to be affected.

But nations have to take drastic measures to protect people and medical systems.

Holidays/vacations are now the least of our worries.

And travel within our country is on the verge of restriction.

Schools everywhere are closed. Grocery stores are limited on goods.

Events are canceled. Church is canceled.

It's real and new and changing minute by minute.

The situation at O’Hare right now is pretty horrifying. 6 hour waits to get through customs in packed crowds. I don’t know how anyone leaves there healthy

it seems to negate the benefit of screening travelers for the virus. Even if very few in this group screen positive one would imagine their chances developing in the next few days are very high and they are flying out to their home airports from Chicago after being in this mess for 6-10 hours

More people dying in Canada of other things than this almost non existent at this time virus. Canada has more to worry about. The lowest dollar I think in 4 years, very low oil prices and very low interest rates. Those 3 added up are not good.

Its not the deaths they are concerned with. Its how will our hospitals be able to cope with the amount of people that will require beds.

Just wow, I can only imagine the number of cases that will be confirmed in the USA in 2-4 weeks.

The number of cases in the US **WILL** dramatically increase very soon because the # of available test kits is going up dramatically in the very near future. There are likely far more cases right now in the US than people realize.

Honestly, I don't think it's wise for anyone to travel overseas right now between Europe & the US or vice versa.

I entire know why anyone would bother, everything’s closed on both sides! Doesn’t sound like a fun vacation
