Hello all and sorry for my ignorance on the subject but i have been searching on google and this site and have come across nothing helpful (well to me anyway) .

I will now explain ; We are from the UK (or my husband prefers England!) and we are visiting the world on 1st June 2010 for 2 weeks, staying in POP. I will have a 4 year old DS (he's currently 3 1/2) and an 19 month old DD ( she has just turned 1). So we have decided to make the most of our last chance of a "cheap" holiday to WDW before we have to visit in school holidays as i am also a pre school teacher and have a very kind boss who is letting me have time off!

I know that we have a 1/2 term from 28th may to the 7th June. I just wondered if you guys were the same and how busy it will be?

Sorry for my babbling! and thanks for reading.

Lisa.

Most U.S. Schools either get out in late May or sometime in Mid/late June. The first couple weeks of June are the slowest times of summer at WDW, so you made a good choice!

My own kids both end school for the year on June 23. One is in "year round" school, and the other is in a typical calendar year school.

Our schools get out in the beginning of June but some do get out in May. Then again, my cousins kids go until the end of June. So it varies here. But going the beginning of June is a pretty good time. We went on our honeymoon and a few anniversary trips at the beginning of June and have always found the crowds to be not that bad.

Our school gets out the Friday before Memorial Day, which I believe is the last Friday in May next year. I'm sorry, I don't know what the exact date is.

When we lived in Florida - we got out in early-mid May. In the Northeast and Northwest, it has been mid-June.

We live in New Jersey and my kids last day of school will be June 25th, I think that most schools here in New Jersey get out about the same time.

This doesn't follow completely 100% of the time, but dates on people getting out of school can be traced back to the late 1800's and early 1900's when kids would get out to help with the harvest, and the harvesters would go from south to north to do that.. so you will find that schools that are southernmost like Texas, Oklahoma, and us in Missouri get out in late May, where places like Ohio, Illinois and Michigan (where I grew up) get out in mid to late June. I would think since kids are not used as much as the early 1900's that some places have adjusted dates for various reasons like year round calendars in some places.. etc..

So that bit of useless information will tell you that probably 1/3 of the country I would guess will be out of school when you are there. Being in Missouri, we will be out of school May 22nd assuming we don't get any snow days!

You will be there during Gay Days I think but I don't believe that effects crowds much.

We were at WDW this past May, from the 26th-31st. It was fairly busy. Lots of kids get out of school in mid-to-late May, especially in the South where we tend to start in mid-August.

Enjoy your trip!

dates off are dependent on the individual school districts.
Most in west central Florida get out mid June.

thankyou everyone for your replies. It has eased my mind knowing that it will not be jammed but will have to work on a touring plan i think! Yippee more planning!:thumbsup2:yay:

We get out 5/24 so we are letting the kids skip that day and heading to WDW on 5/21. We have been several times in late May early June and it is our favorite time to go (next to October but we don't get a fall break anymore). It is not very crowded, just plan for some afternoon showers so take ponchos.

I was there in 2008 around that time - end of May - early June. It was more crowded than times like Septemebr, but certainly very manageable. It was hot though - so there were lots of time we'd take an afternoon break, let the kids nap, and then head back in the early evening. It would cool down and the lines were normally much better for the little kid type items (I was there with DS at 13 months and Dniece at 23 months)
