Hey Guys,

We just got a quote for a Ford Escape or Similar in September for Thrifty thru usrentacar.co.uk for £266. Has anyone used usrentacar.co.uk. This is the best price I have seen for the fortnight, we have only ever used dollar direct tho so a little nervous.
Would really appreciate any help??

Thanks Jenn

Yes, we have used them plenty of times. They are pretty good and we like the fact that you can book and just pay a deposit.

You might want to try pricing up the same car, using the code from this link.

You can also try through Quidco and possibly even get cashback, which might bring the price down further. The instructions for that are also on the link above :)

Like Joh we have used USrentacar several times before with no issues.

However I haven't used them in a couple of years due to how expensive they have become - I have always found better prices elsewhere.

I used USRentacar last summer, no problems with them at all, but lots of hassle and false selling by Dollar on arrival at MCO. They really tried the hard sell on extras and also said it was compulsory to pre-pay gas.

Dollar and thrifty same company, we always use usrentacar and either dollar or thrifty :-)

Used them upto about 2 years ago, now find them a little expensive, I mainly use the link in Joh's post above now. 2 weeks in Sept should cost around £240 after cashback but wait until they release a discount code, last time I looked I could only find one for 15+ days rental, that gave £25 off, nothing for 14 days or less but their offers change often.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your help it is much appreciated. However can I ask we read as part of the t&c's that the lead driver needs to present a credit card in their name as part of the rental agreement. We are hiring 3 cars and 1 of the drivers doesn't have a credit card does anyone know if a debit card would be accepted or do you think this would be an issue??

Thanks again

Jenn

The US is not impossible by any means without a credit card but it can be awkward. A hotel is likely to ask for a CC as well. I'd just ask your friend to get one. Doesn't have to use it. My hubby only has a credit card because we go to the US on holiday, it's just easier. You run the risk of them wanting a pile of returnable cash off you without one.

Some companies will accept a debit card others won't. Those that do may put a hold on some money too.

Honestly if they can get a CC life would be easier plus they are handy for emergencies.
