Us, Food, Drink, Friends, and Sledge (Hijack update Disney and Napa Rose 12/16)

If they are suitable for framing, I say buy two cheap frames and voila! Two, count 'em, TWO Christmas presents.:thumbsup2

Wow. The wine view lounge looks terrific. Between the private cheese bar and regular bar I'm not sure I'd even leave the "cage." :)

Hiya friendie! Suffering from F&W letdown over here ... and now I've made Jay sick. You could name a beer after us: Hacker-Wheeze. :lmao:

OH! I am sorry he is sick! No donuts song tonight?
You could be a wine - a Gross-Wheezer-Miner ;)

OK! Brenda needs food Porn .. Let me get into Photoclucket:rotfl2:

You do realize this is Victoria and Albert' s Day!

No donut sucking, which is a real shame. :lmao: He's been hooked on some weird retro-Mario game this week and has been neglecting guitar hero. But he lurves me because the dount song is always his first selection.

And ... :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: ... with the wine! We could start our own label.

I've been ogling Vegas restaurants tonight ... there's a sushi place at Caesar's Palace that looks interesting ... but there's also Shibuya at MGM. So many restaurants so little time (and money).

Drum roll please! :cool1:

I wonder if we earned ourselves a lifetime ban from V&A? They must have breathed a sigh of relief when we all finally decided to leave. :lmao:

Day Three - Sunday October 18th - Victoria and Albert's or what I like to call DO I NEED TO BUY A JACKET? IT'S COLD!:lmao:

We left Epcot for the 1st time! The main reason was we had dinner reservations with Friends at V&A that night and as you can see Jason and I cannot be trusted with food and booze at EPCOT! :rotfl2: I had to talk him out of the French Regional Lunch that day for goodness! :rotfl:
So we knew we could go light at Hollywood Studios!

So we walked on over and I was shivering! THIS IS FLORIDA!?! I have never been cold here in October in my life. I don't usually need a coat till I am back on the plane home! Lucky I did have a small jacket but - as you can see I was still COLD!

WDW2009foodandwine391.jpg

Jason and I feel that this cold spell was brought on by the Mayan Calendar Predictions and that the end is coming - this is why we don't mind eating our weight worth of food on vacation! :rotfl2: Who needs a liver - it's all over in 2012!:rotfl:

So we rode my favorite ride at HS The Great Movie Ride (Great is in the title - how could it be bad?) and walked around until our lunch reservations at Brown Derby!
WDW2009foodandwine418.jpg

We said we were going light and we meant it!

Jason with the menu wanting a steak he can't have! :thumbsup2
WDW2009foodandwine414.jpg

See his new LONG SLEEVE SHIRT!?

So we split
The Butter Nut Soup with Cream fresh -ie-fresh
WDW2009foodandwine415.jpg

This was good and rich!

Chopped Cobb Salad! Always a winner!
I love they call it a salad with 4lbs of bacon and blue cheese!:rotfl::lovestruc
WDW2009foodandwine416.jpg

And Grapefruit Cake!!!! I love this! :woohoo:
WDW2009foodandwine417.jpg

After lunch we did what we always do after we have lunch at HS - we left! We love the restaurants there but we can't seem to find much pull after a couple hours. So it was a day of rest and getting ready for V&A!~

RETRO MARIO GAME! I'll Be at your house in 3 hours! :rotfl2:
I need a list for Vegas and what your thinking of Bon Apps Wise!:yay:

If it's not because of the Mayan Calendar then the cold weather is our fault ... the last time it was that cold in FL when we were there in October was when Jon and Grimace joined us for vacation. Coincidence that X&Y arrived on the same day as this cold front?

I THINK NOT! :rotfl2:

The soup looks tasty ... maybe on a future trip we will keep our lunch ADR for the Brown Derby. I still sturggle with their menu, though; it just seems very limited and pricey. I think we'd be happier with the F&W booths. ;)

The light is always on for you guys! :goodvibes

As for Vegas ... do you want the FEED ME list or the WE'RE NOT MADE OF MONEY list? :lmao:

We will make a deal with you - Every time we bring people it's record heat - so if we don't bring anyone and just meet up it will be 75!!! :confused3

We like the Brown Derby but the menu never changes - love the atmosphere and the CAKE - The booths were so good this year I didn't miss any ADR's we "called to cancel":littleangel: Plus we had great company! :flower3:

OK! After a Nap (OH YEA!) and some down time - A.K.A. wine in the room! We got ready for V&A!

BriarRosie - Lori contacted us in May and noticed that a few of us had our 40th Birthday this year and offered to try and set up a dinner at Victoria and Albert's! This turned out to be one of the best nights of the trip and all I have to say is anyone else eating in the dining room that night - "We would say we were sorry but it was too much FUN!" :wizard:

Plate - not for sale - taken away as soon as they seat you so you don't take a free gift! :)

That is a great picture of you and Jason! And a great picture of Lori & Catherine. I still look like a ripe pistachio nut ... :rotfl2:

And I agree ... we were having so much fun ... there were times that I thought no one else was even in the restaurant because it seemed like they were all whispering when they even bothered to speak with each other. Or else they were distracted trying to pick a better song than we did for the harpist to play. She was stoic ... TO THE EXTREME! :lmao:

You looked amazing! So did I - I was Be-Dazzled!:rotfl: I was cold and no one offered me anything 100 % cashmere!

By the way - SEND IN THE CLOWNS???!!! You noticed they took away our butter knives when you asked her to play it! :rotfl2: It was perfect! I thought I was going to spray Pommery all over Jay!

Jason just said so much for a "formal review of V&A":rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

OK! back to the show!

We sat down and they didn't really ask if we were having the wine pairing! I think by the fact we were already loud and shiny that it was a given!

Here comes the amuse for my bouche! !

WDW2009foodandwine430.jpg

Forgive me and look at Catherine's review from the night for what it all was! My favorite was the Octopus Salad! Jason liked the egg cup thing!
Yes! I said EGG CUP THING! I wasn't paying attention - I had Pommery Brut in my glass and "Send in the Clowns" eating away at my brain via the paid off harpist!

Next Jason and I both shuffled off to Buffalo!

It was Colorado Buffalo with Fennel, Olives, Artichokes and Sherry Vinaigrette!
WDW2009foodandwine435.jpg

This was really great! I love olives and fennel! This was tender and great and everything you wanted in good beef!

2nd course I had the Main Diver Scallop with Zellwood Corn
WDW2009foodandwine437.jpg

Perfect scallop - beautiful and sweet!

Jason had the King Salmon with Asparagus,Crab and Bearnaise
WDW2009foodandwine438.jpg

I knew Jason would get this when I saw the menu - "does it come with a rich sauce? I'll take it!" :lmao:

Next I had the Poulet Rouge with Mushroom-Truffle Ragout, Porcini and English Peas!
WDW2009foodandwine439.jpg

I think this was my Favorite of the night! It was amazing!

Jason had the duck breast, Sausage and confit with salsify and Squash puree
WDW2009foodandwine440.jpg

He liked it but also though my "little chicken" was better!

I like the more informal approach to this review ... that way people who might think V&A is too stuffy or refined or "high-class" will know that all with cash to spend are welcome here. ;););)

I had to request Send in the Clowns ... it was a moral imperative. :lmao: Although I did feel bad for the harpsit when we all laughed through her lovely rendition of the song ... it's just that I had Krusty the Klown singing the lyrics in my head and well, I have a hard time not sharing the mirth when King Giggle knocks on my brain.
