Hi

Not posted for a while but now planning another Orlando trip in August this year - villa booked but still checking out best flight deals but will probably book flights this week

My question is my sister is hoping to come on holiday with us and I discovered
(only by reading boards like this one) that she would need a visa as she has a drink driving conviction for driving over the alcohol limit. She phoned US Embassy in London who told her they have no appointments available until August at the earlies (is there any way of getting one quicker). She has applied for statement of convictions from local police office although I think this may take up to 6 weeks to come back (does it really take that long!!!)
The request sent off yesterday
I think I may need to go ahead and book flights for myself and my family and that she will need to book a later flight if she can get her visa sorted out in time - has anyone had a similar experience and have any tips/advice to share
Anything appreciated

yes, very similar, dh and 2boys are french, due to them being born over there, and dd and i travel on british passports, the "lads" all need a visa at £63.00 each
spoke to us embassy at xmas when first planned hols, and they explained that visa had limited shelf life and not to book to early, so when 3 month slot opened dh called and got 1st available apointment, which was 6 weeks away!!
he goes in 3 weeks so ill let you know how it goes if you want..

Hi there, in the same postition with DH just now. He has a careless driving charge so also needs a visa. We live in the highlands of scoland and were also told the earliest app in london was Aug, however did manage to get one for the Belfast Embassy for the 27th of June. This is just as easy for us to get to (flights are a lot cheaper to!) not sure if it might be an option for your sis? :confused3

i didnt think motoring convictions were a problem for a visa waiver ?

I think drink driving would count, but personally I wouldnt bother with a visa, I doubt the US are going to know that once you had a few too many!

French people can travel under the visa waiver system tho.

hi guys :wave2: , DH has a careless driving charge and we werent sure if he needed a visa or not so phoned teh embassy. They said he did as it has been through the courts system. Speeding fines/points dont count but if it has had to go through the courts then you will need a visa total pest eh? :sad2:

I take it that France did not issue the new e-passport for your DH and DS's?

sorry for the delay in posting, broadband giving me grief

no, just normal ones, so got to fork out more money for visas, new passports already cost us a fortune, the irony of it was, if we had not got new passports (the boys were on dads passport so we thought it would be better that evryone had their own) we would not have needed visas :sad2:

I think would of been 'caught' any way as everybody needs their own passport these days to enter the US, even babies.

Marica normally i would say try the Belfast Consular for a Visa - but the waiting time for Visitors Visas: 37 Days at the London Embassy the wait time for Visitors Visas: 34 Days.
