Hi all;
Anyone out there have a US dollar visa/mastercard? If so, which did you go with.
I would like to save the 2.5% the card companies charge (on top of the exchange rate):scared1:

We have a BMO US$ credit card. They use to be free, now I believe it's $15/yr, which you make up for pretty quickly. CIBC offers the VISA US $. I think RBC does too. Hope that helps.

We had a U.S. dollar credit card years ago that had a $35 yearly fee. I found out the Target Visa was free. I am able to pay in U.S. dollars, so this isn't for everyone. However, my point is that once we called to cancel the card and we told them we were cancelling because we found a card with no fees...it was amazing how quickly that $35 fee disappeared.

I have an RBC USD Gold Visa..

I love it. Just transfer online from my USD Cequing acct to pay it as needed.
My daughter attends school in New York city so it's so easy for her to use and for me to pay with no addt'l bank fees factored in. I pay no annual fee because of my accts with RBC.:)

I just opened a TD US dollar account and credit card. When you add their borderless plan you pay I think $5 a month but they waive the fee on your US VISA ($39) and they give you the staff exchange rate when you buy US funds. I can't remember what other benefits there are but I think there are travel insurance stuff there too.

That sounds good, but, as usual I have left it until the last minute, wanting something by the 24th.:rolleyes1 May still look into it though.

At BMO yesterday, they told me $25/year. I have applied, so we'll see.
The Canadian dollar soared today, so less money on service charges to pay I guess if I don't get a card in time.:thumbsup2

I have yet to pay for my US Mastercard at BMO. I've had it for a few years. I know that people here reported that it would be added to the account but when was it supposed to begin? :confused3

For me, since I have some US internet site subscriptions, I'll pay the $, but, it would be nice to know exactly when that is supposed to occur. In fact, I was in just yesterday to pay off the card, and there was no mention of it (but I forgot to ask, too. doh)

They approved my card while I was at the branch and the US dollar account was opened then too. If you went in to any branch I am sure they could put a rush on y9our card to get it for the 24th.

I got the BMO USdollar mastercard w/airmiles earlier this year. No annual fee at the time although I have been hearing rumours here that there is now a charge, although I haven't received any letter notifying me of such a change. It's great so far. When the exchange rate is good, I buy some US money and depost it into a BMO US dollar account. When my statement is due, I pay it at BMO out of that US account.

How do you transfer on line? I have a US Chequing acct, but cannot pay online?

Is your USD Visa w/RBC?
Both my USD account and Visa are...and I can just transfer from one to the other. I cannot however access my USD acct from an ATM:confused3 Wish I could.

I have a Visa from Target. I applied for it in the store, was approved in about 3 minutes, given a temp card and was good to go. I believe the real card arrived a couple of weeks later. You earn points on the card and when you reach so many they send you a 10% off card in the mail. There is no annual fee on mine. The only trouble is paying it - I either had to go to a Target and pay at the service counter or send a cheque from my US$ account.

minnie56, I have a US$ account from CIBC and can access the money from an ABM but I had to specifically ask a teller to add that account to my card for ABM access. Maybe you could check the next time you are in the bank? I actually rarely use my credit card anymore - just take the money from the bank machine.

Hi! Yes, both accts are with RBC and they have always told me since the visa is administered by chase, I can't transfer. I've tried many times hoping it would change, but it hasn't.
