US cell phones in Canada

Hi..I'm traveling to Toronto Memorial Day weekend (U.S.'s)Coming from Buffalo. I go to the Falls all the time to go to the casinos but never use my cell phone. My question is...do US cell phones work in Canada? I know there are different phone services, but not sure how the cells work. We'll be in Toronto for an Anime convention and the DD's will be going off on their own. I'd like to be able to keep tabs on them.

I imagine so my cell phone worked in florida last week also I was in detroit on the weekend for dance compitetion and it worked fine there I am sure your cell phones are the same as ours and will work my hubby's worked in mexico to call home to canada

I live in Canada but work for a US based cell phone provider. You will be able to use your phones in Canada, however, they will be roaming. With the provider I work for, we have a Canada roaming package that gives a discounted rate on roaming while in Canada. You might want to check with your provider to see if they offer anything like this...could save you some money.

My Verizon phone works in Toronto, Barrie, and Winnipeg. I had roaming charges in Barrie and WPG, but not all parts of TO. In Niagara Falls you might still be picking up US cell towers.
