Booked a direct flight round trip on US airway recently. Going from philadelphia to MCO. Anyone have experience with this airline? Also, is $380.00 a lot? I was too excited to book and didn't see Jet Blue's schedule up yet or any other airline's. We are going from 6/26/14-7/2/14.

Us airways is not my favorite. 380 seems high to me from Philly if there are others soon to be available. I've always learned to wait till JetBlue or southwest release fares unless a great deal 200 and under comes through. We went at Easter and our flights from DCA were 210 on JetBlue. Us airways also charges bag fees so add an extra $50 on ticket unless you have status.

I fly US Airways frequently from Washington, DC. My direct flights to Orlando have always been in the $200 range. I've never tried booking 11 months ahead of time, but I imagine they will drop significantly based on direct DC prices. I usually book my MCO flights 2-4 months in advance.

That's high. Wait a while--you should see a drop to at least $300, if not much lower. The good thing about USAirway is that they have a lot of flights out of Philly. Check out SW and Air Tran too.

I just booked our flights for September 2013 and FINALLY got flights at a decent time for $277 RT, flying US Airways out and United back. We change planes in Cleveland on the way back, direct on the way out.

I would never pay $380 for a RT Philly to Orlando flight.

I just want to confirm, you've already booked the flight? Then it doesn't matter what happens to prices unless the tickets drop to $180 or less. USAir has a $200 fee to change your ticket. Source

US Air is a legacy airline. They have a fee to check a bag ($25 for first, $35 for second). Source

Their on time record from PHilly to MCO is 78%, with an average delay of 24 minutes. Source

Do you have any specific questions you'd like answers to?

ETA: If you haven't booked already, Delta has a flight for $268 (although it's an evening flight- morning flights are $328). USAir is now down to $320.

It's almost certain a better fare will be available before next June. There's nothing you can do now except chalk this up to a lesson learned (unless it's been less than 24 hours since your purchase).

The bolded is not a guarantee however. The last couple of trips we've taken (two to Orlando, one to Mexico), flights have NEVER been as cheap as they were at ~300 days out. All the trips were in June.

Now, neither SW nor JB service our airport, so that might factor into the pricing.

Look, it's not the worst thing that you can do. $380 is not a bad price. You might find something lower but at most we're talking $100 or so, it's not like you booked a $900 ticket and are now finding them for $250.

I fly a lot and generally book no more than 4-6 weeks ahead of time. I usually get pretty cheap flights though on a legacy airline your choice of seats may really stink. I usually fly southwest where my status puts me in the front of the line so booking date doesn't matter.

Also for future reference best day to buy airfare is generally Tuesday or Wednesday and Saturday morning at times.

Oh goodness, they don't suck. You just bought too early...and learned a lesson the expensive way. Just be thankful they'll give you a credit if the price goes down because that is not common with legacy carriers. (I'm surprised they'll do it, actually.)

Honestly, I have started to change my mind a bit about USAirways. After avoiding them like the plague for several years, I've flown them 3 times in the last 8 months or so and had surprisingly good experiences each time. (Or maybe United has just gotten so bad that even pitiful ol' USAirways is looking good in comparison. But hey, they offer wifi on lots of flights now, and United has virtually no wifi routes.) So don't worry...they aren't all that bad.

I booked US Air from ABE-PHL-MCO for $200 with fees last March for Sept. I think $300 is high. You have a variety of airlines that have a direct flight to ABE, I have used Jet Blue and Air Tran. Not sur if Air Tran is still flying out of PHL, before it left Harrisburg I paid $77 one way.
Maybe it's early yet.
