I am thinking of flying indirect (via Philadelphia) from Gatwick to Orlando with US Airways in August this year. Price is £200 per person less than direct with Virgin. Has anyone flown with US Airways? Any information on timeliness, service, planes, in-flight entertainment, food, connection airport, etc would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Hey, I have only flown US airways on an internal flight in the US and they were great. I'm in exactly the same situation, have priced indirect flights and they are so much cheaper. Have you tried Delta as well? They fly via Atlanta and are working out at £170 pp return for the end Nov!!! BA and Virgin want nearly £400 each!

tinks, I have looked for flights via delta, for the whole of november and they all work out with taxes at 360 approx?

have u got times etc for that price would like to save lol

Hi.

I can't comment from Gatwick but we have flown with US Airways (via Philly) from Manchester and thought they were superb (flew out Envoy class and returned in Economny). Flights were on time, service very good and seat back tv's with on-demand facility. We normally fly direct with Virgin but chose the US flights due to cost like yourselves.

Have just returned from two weeks in Orlando having chosen to fly indirect with Delta this time (via Atlanta), again due to cost difference and i can honestly say i wouldn't fly with them again. Poor in comparison to Virgin and US Airways.

Sarah :)

Hi sorry my fault I stand corrected :sad1: just checked on the site and missed the plus taxes bit :scared: your right its £300 plus each - DOH!!!

I noticed US Airways have some amazing deals on right now that include a cruise down the Hudson :)

Seriously - I was looking at their fares for late May early June and they come to just over 1100 for 3 adults and one child from London, which is pretty good. The prices you've found for August are great, considering it's the school holidays then. Also, I would double check your dates but the flights I found were on a plane with the seat back TV's.

Don't know if you can swing it but I checked Virgin's prices for August from London, leaving around 27th and they are only about 319 each. But it would mean the kids missing the first week or so of school.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

For no added cost they will also throw in a wing walk. ;)

Seriously - I freaked when I saw this on the news as we're flying with them in April - until my husband pointed out that if all their pilots are that good we'll have no problems!!
:worship: Amazing landing.

A friend of mine works for Airbus so I must remember to congratulate him on a job well done - he makes the wings!!

We always fly US Airways to Orlando - from Manchester via Philly.

Flying with them again at Easter.

We find them to be very good.

Their website will give you all the info you need about the planes themselves, the on-board entertainment, food etc.
