I received an email that Allegiant had changed my flight, and not just by a few hours; they are wanting to change it by 2 days. I got a great deal on the tickets now I have to try to decide if we can change or if I am going to have to cancel and try to find another airline which will mean additional cost for our trip.

That's why small airlines are risky. I wondered how long they could keep selling cheap tickets and stay in business. Something has to give. So they are probably cutting back cities where they are not making money.

Do they even have other flights that would work better for you?

If they do, hand pick one and ask for it.

What city are you flying out of?

We are flying out of Lexington. We were leaving on a Friday and returning on the following Friday. Now Knoxville is the only airport even close that has a departure on Friday. Lexington wants me to leave on a Wednesday or a Sunday. I really can't do the Wednesday because it would mean taking my daughter out of school 3 additional days. If we wait and leave on Sunday, that means we would only have 4 actual days in the park!

Someone posted about a month ago that their Allegiant flight was changed by a day, I believe in Michigan. Is there another airline that would work for you? If so, I would ask Allegiant for a refund and book another airline. I just would not trust an airline with 2 flights a week out of my city.

That's no surprise at all. Allegiant often runs 1 flight a day just a couple times a week to many cities. This is why delays, cancellations, and schedule changes are much more of a problem with them. I would personally find a new flight on a different airline that meets your schedule and budget and THEN ask for a refund (perhaps just for the outbound segment).

Sorry, that really stinks. We've flown Allegiant twice and liked them, but they obviously have some draw backs. I hope you find something that fits your schedule. It is hard when you are at the mercy of the airline industry. We usually schedule things out about 6-7 months in advance and sometimes flights have drastic changes for all sorts of reasons. Good luck!

Did you check AirTran out of LEX? They fly on Fridays, Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays maybe? They are usually pretty cheap. We used them in June and they were great. Paid under $700 for 4 seats, 2 checked bags and seat assignments. They are also having a sale right now. I could fly Monday to Monday in October for $55 per leg (plus taxes). Unfortunately, we need Sunday to Sunday which is a lot more expensive! Darn school schedule!!

That's what I was just going to suggest. Try AirTran. They have the least expensive tix by far even with their fees.

Ok, I guess we will be going with AirTran. Even with the sale, it is still going to cost us more than Allegiant, but I can get a Friday to Friday flight. OF COURSE I DID'NT GET THE AIRTRAN COUPONS AND NOW THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE.:sad1: If anyone has one they will not be using, please PM me.
