We've been looking for airline tickets for the early part of December and found nothing for less than $227 on Delta (flying from Columbus, OH, to Orlando). Today, I saw fares of $69 each way on the AirTran website (total of $138 + fees, which brings it to around $157 round trip).

What can you tell me about this airline??? All we've ever flown is Southwest and, most recently, Delta (and United years ago).

Any help is appreciated. I'd really like to jump on these tickets if the feedback is good, but I don't want to end up sorry.

Thanks bunches!!!!

Pat

They are just fine. It is a no frills airline sorta similar to SWA. I would jump on it if the price and times are good for you.

The times are excellent!! Much better than Delta, in fact! We get to Orlando at 9:40 in the morning and don't leave to come home until 7:30 at night. Plus, it's a nonstop -- something I've been unable to find, this time, with Delta.

Do you know if you can pick your seats with AirTran?

From AirTran website:
How can I reserve my seat before the flight?
Customers traveling in Business Class or on full coach fares (Y or B class) may request a seat assignment at the time of booking. (The reservation agent can advise you of the fare class you have secured.) When booking these fares online, look for the "Reserve Seats" button on the Receipt page at the completion of booking. Seats on more deeply discounted fares, such as "Q","L" and "H," are assigned upon check-in for your flight.

They now have web check in so you can print boarding passes with seat assignments when you do web check in 24 hrs in advance

Thank you so much for the advice! Thanks to you, we just saved over $600 for 8 people! Woo hoo! Mickey Mouse, here we come!

With the $69 fares, you can't reserve seats until 24 hours prior. We bought tickets for the same price for our trip next week flying out of Baltimore. It's a great price!

We flew AirTran for the first time last week. Going was great. The flight arrived in Orlando from Philadelphia in about 2 hours. Save yourself time by getting your seats via your pc. You can do the flight check-in 24 hours up to 90 minutes before the flight leaves. Since we only had carry-on luggage we did not have to stop anywhere. Just went straight to the gate with the boarding passes that we printed at home. It was really easy.

Going home we were delayed because the flight crew was stuck on another flight arriving in Orlando so we lost about an hour plus.

Didn't have a printer on the Orlando side but still did the flight check-in via pc so we could pick out our seats. AirTran printed the boarding passes for us at the window.

Overall they are probably no better or worse than others. Grab the deal while you can.

I have flown AirTran on several occassions. Never had a problem with service. No frills, competent service, good price.
