Hi Everyone!

I haven't been around the DIS much in a while but I know what a powerfully connected community this is and I'm pulling out all the stops to get as many people praying for and healing this amazing child!!!!

My cousin's 10 year old daughter, Ciera, needs your powerful prayers and healing. I'll try to make this short......Ciera has always been incredibly sensitive. My whole family has often joked that she should have been mine......A lot in common and we're very connected!

Anyway, among other things, she declared herself a vegetarian at 8 and has always been very self disciplined. She's just always been on the ball and determined.

These seemed like positive things until about 18 months ago. It started with complaining that her stomach hurt. She became so sensitive to any negativity that she is now being home schooled. She has become very ritualistic in all her behaviors and will barely eat. She has lost nearly half her body weight and is becoming more lethargic every day. I saw her this weekend and my heart just broke. She was lying in her Mom's lap and was just a bag of bones. She can't last long at this rate!

There is no physical diagnosis and she is in counseling and on meds (I think for anxiety). She doesn't seem to care that she could die and that she's doing it to herself. Yes, she has been told this could happen.....Her family is Christian and she has even turned that to a zealous practice...morning and evening devotionals etc......gets upset if she can't keep to her schedule...(Her parents aren't like that)

She obviously has a control issue, possibly anorexia, although she has never expressed any body image concerns.

I'm asking that anything you can do, you do with both barrels blazing!!! We need to create a miracle!!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

By the way, she has an unparalleled passion for animals and wants to be vet that develops prosthetics for dogs! That's her something-to-live-for, if she can tap into it.

Many Blessings!!
Lisa

Ciera and your family will be included in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: I couldn't imagine what you are going through.

I´ll say a prayer for her. Hope she heals well and soons.

What a beautiful name, Ciera! I will keep her and her family in my Prayer's. :grouphug:

Poor kid. Sounds like she really needs help. How scary. I will keep her in my prayers.

:grouphug: prayers for Ciera and all the children that are suffering

First of all, my thoughts and prayers to you all! :grouphug:

Since animals are her passion, is there a veterinarian that the family knows who can have Ciera come and "work" for him/her for even a couple of hours a day. I know she is young, but she can volunteer and work with the animals. I am thinking she would be able to see her worth when feels like she is doing something for them, not focusing on her own rituals.

Just a thought. :confused3

What a great idea!

Good thoughts goign out for Ciera's recovery. Maybe even some time working at an animal shelter!

Great idea. Do you have an SPCA near you? We do here and they take volunteers all the time. Maybe the two of you can go together? This may give her some focus - "the animals are counting on you" to walk them or feed them or play with them.

Good luck. She will be in my prayers. :grouphug:

That is so sad to read, Lisa, about Ciera. She and her family will sure be in my prayers. I sure hope she is able to focus those energies on her passion.

Very sad situation BUT am I missing something ? Why hasn't she been admitted to a good Child psychiatric unit before she does lasting or lethal damage to herself. Loosing 1/2 her body weight is a major danger. She may have already done permanent heart damage. I am glad you are concerned but it is time for action not just thoughts and prayers. There was another post where the mother wasn't feeding her baby enough so it wouldn't get fat and everyone was saying call social services. This child needs serious immediate help. people die from anorexia! and this is a minor she doesn't have the right to kill herself. Has the DR. who has given her the meds seen her recently if she is as bad as you say they need to know. I hope I am over reacting and all she needs is some encouragement but from your post I don't think I am.

Awww how terrible for your family. Prayers said. Keep us possted! :grouphug:
