Urgent passport info!!!

My new one dropped through the door this morning, although I didn't have to sign for it, which is a bit confusing :confused3 Especially as I haven't had my old passport back yet. Bet that will turn up tomorrow and will have to sign for that one instead! :rotfl: But the important thing is - IT'S HERE!!! :goodvibes

New ones arrive by a private courier the old ones come back by Royal Mail this could explain a lot:thumbsup2

That's true. Although still supposed to sign for new passport and didn't. Don't really care, although they could have ended up putting it through anyone's door - not all of us have door numbers around here! muhhahah. Oh well, it's here now, that's all I care about. One hurdle down, two hundred to go!

i am getting married and changing my name
what do i do to get my passport changed to my married name?

I have just changed mine ahead of my wedding on 19/09/09. You fill in a regular application form in your new name and then attach a special form (that you get from the Post Office or download from Passport site) that the person who will perfom your ceremony (Vicar, registrar etc) fills in. You then send these 2 forms, new photo, old passport and payment off. The person marrying you has to keep a section of the form as they are duty bound to advise the passport office if the marriage does not go ahead. Once you send your old one off you cannot travel as your new one does not become valid until the date of your wedding.

The USA actually does not recommend doing this due to their ESTA requirements as you can't do that until the day the passport becomes valid so I have to do mine on 19/09/09 and fly 22/09/09 :scared1: my bro will be doing it for me on the morning of the wedding!

Or you can just wait until after the wedding and send off your marriage certificate to get it changed but then your honeymoon has to be booked in your maiden name.

HTH! :goodvibes

ive been married nearly a year and have only just chenged my passport, we got married in disney so i travelled in my maiden name and just changed it with my marriage certificate and thats all i needed
