Urgent help please

About to book a holiday. Is monarch basic insurance ok or do we have to upgrade to gold. Believe it or not never booked a package only DIY!

Are you talking about car hire insurance?

You will need insurance. Check the price of the car you want plus insurance with monarch (they use alamo) and then see if it is cheaper to hire a car separetely eg netflights or usrentacar.

In May we didn't use the included car with cosmos (monarch) as it was cheaper to hire from netflights with platinum ins/tank of fuel.

Sorry I didnt explain myself very well. I was referring to car high with Monarch.

I love the Disboards and regularly come on here. We have been to Florida already at Easter of this year. However, following a sudden and unexpected bereavement we decided to book a last minute holiday to our favourite place on earth.

We leave 28th July for 3 weeks travelling with Monarch from Manchester. Nothing is organised and only just over a week to go we must be bonkers.

We have booked a 7 seater van with basic insurance which states unlimited mileage 3rd party state minimum.

Im now panicking that we havent got enough cover.

Hey ho....worse case scenario its only money and we will find the extra from somewhere!!!

I have just done a dummy booking, not given me a gold option.
Its offering me Basic (free) Fully Inclusive (+£315)

Basic free is not enough cover. You need to have fully inclusive cover.
for 3 week booking it just offered me 7 seater minivan at £345 & £315 for incl ins. £660 total.

You would be better trying to get your money back for the car and booking via this link, 15% off and 6% Quidco, same car would cost you £449

Thank you Wayne for making the time to do a dummy run for us...its so kind of you to do that while your away : )

Our heads are in a whirl at the minute. Might call Monarch and see if we can cancel the car.
