Then why don't you sell the items on Ebay?
Because I couldn't be bothered listing 3 tins on ebay with a collective "worth" of about $18. It's not worth my time or energy....easier to sell them at a yard sale and get $10 for all of them. I personally think Ebay is a great reference tool.
ETA: I'm not a chronic yard sale holder....this is the first yard sale for me in over 7 years. I had some items, like the antique tins, that I knew had a value of more than a few dollars. I used Ebay to determine where to price them. As I said in my initial post, I did not price them at Ebay prices, but below. I found my pricing was pretty accurate on these items: some sold at the asking price and some were sold for a dollar or two less, which is typical for most yard sale items....I'm not going to quibble over a dollar or two. And yes, a few things didn't sell, but they didn't generate any interest to begin with and there are always things that don't sell.
