This totally serves me right for time wasting, but i called up the Disney Booking Reservations line for me and my boyfriends first Disney trip on the 14th to 18th. I had planned our two nice resturants being Walts and Cafe Mickey. However i have just been told that Walts is not open during the week!! :scared1:

So i need a nice new resturant to book instead, about the same price as Walts, that will be open during the week. It needs to be a little bit romantic if possible.

Any ideas??? I am relying on you guys!

How about California Grill? I think its a bit more expensive but from what i've been told very Romantic.

California Grill is about twice the price of Walt's, but it is awesome.

For about the same price and romantic, I recommend the Steakhouse in the village and the Silver Spur in that order.

Blue Lagoon is probably about the same price as Walts however its had mixed reviews. Saying that we've had 3 excellent meals there

I would say the Chicago Steakhouse in the Disney village- That seems to be very highly recommended, or maybe the Yacht Club in the Newport Bay? I've seen a couple of good reviews of that on the DLP food guide. The Blue Lagoon used to be very popular, but that seems to have got some more negative reviews recently (Having said that, we're hoping to try it on our next trip!). The Silver Spur is meant to be nice also. The California Grill is about double the price of Walts, but it is meant to be fantastic.

We thought that as we are huge Pirates fans (well i am :rolleyes1) however we aren't too fond of seafood, we thought it wasn't a good option. Would that be an issue?

I only had fish on one occasion we went as Im not a big fish fan either. I had pasta once and cant remember the other time but it was some kind of meat/steak. DH had Ostrich steak once and a curry another time.

The starters are not necassarily fishy either

Hi!

If I remember rightly the BL does a beef dish, Ostrich with Plantain, (I believe) a chicken curry, and a veggie main dish (Which is more than likely pasta). Heres the link to the Blue Lagoon thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1217512 Theres a couple of pics of the non-seafood dishes there......... :goodvibes

we ate in the blue lagoon in Jan and it was Fantastic! there isnt that much fish on the menu either. plenty of other choices. Plus its mood lit so very nice and soft lighting. nice and romantic.

steakhouse in the village is more open and not so intimate I felt. plus is more expensive also.

Sorry to jump in on this, but is Walt's closed during the week all year round, because if it is, that's back to the drawing board for me too!

My main stumbling point is that i have been to the Blue Bayoo (In Disneyland California) and hated it. It was rushed, crowded and really bland food! I think since this place looks the same i am unfairly pushing my Cali experience on it. I do love pirates though! :lovestruc

I've been to the one in cali also (though it was about 8 years ago) and this is nothing like that! its much more open with multiple tiers of tables.

when i went to the blue bayou it was very cramped and was themed like a big balcony of a plantation house over looking the ride.

the blue lagoon is not cramped and is themed like a ramshackle tiki type building on the edge of the ride

I would imagine that during the January dates that your Ticker is pointing to (assuming I've counted right), then I doubt very much that walt's will be open every day, as it's usually the off-season that these closures take place the most. You might be lucky and find it open at a lunch time or similar during your trip though...

No, Walts isn't closed during the week all year round. It it closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays I believe... And off season only opens for lunch.

Thanks Bob and UKstitch, I'll ask when I phone to make reservations but I really wanted dinner rather than lunch... sigh. I'll go for Annette's as an alternative as it is well reviewed by a lot of people on here. I'm getting tempted by Auberge as middle DD is a huge princess fan. How much more would it cost if I used a half board plus voucher? These boards are having a bad influence on me!:rotfl: Before you know it, I'll be upgrading to DLH (no chance!)

Its always worth asking!

I can't help with the price of the Auberge, but as its a set menu you might could ask when you call to book?
