I am in my 34th week pregnancy. Anyway this past week has been almost unbearable so I decided to take an early maternity leave. Well today all day long with no spaces in between my back has been killing me to the point that Im almost not able to do anything. I drove to our church to help decorate for my shower but all I could do was sit and I had to go the the grocery stroe afterward and my mom went with me and pushed me around in a buggy. Its not a sharp pain its just a steady ache that wont go away. Does this mean anything? Should I just quit whining and go on or should I let my doctor know?

Call your doctor! It could be nothing or it could be back labor. Either way they might want to see you just to play it safe. Don't worry about "bugging" them on a Friday night, that is what they are there for.

Take a hot shower to see if that helps with the back pain. Then drink some water and lay down on your left side. If it doesn't go away, then call your doctor. You could be in pre-term labor. Hopefully, it's just Braxton-Hicks or back pain.

I only made it to 32 weeks and vaguely remember a few Braxton-Hicks, but honestly, you should call your doctor. With something as important as your pregnancy, why chance this? One little phone call could ease your mind, or if necessary, point you to the proper medical care. Please call.

call the doctor
rather be dafe than sorry with your health and your soon to be bundle of joy

Sounds like it could be back labor. I had it at 35 weeks. Delivered beautiful 6lb 14 oz boy. Labor doesnt always happen like they tell you. :sunny:
Call the dr. like now.

I would call. This happened to my friend and her water broke during the same night of he back pain (at 34 1/2 weeks). Sometimes you might be made to feel whimpy but trust your instincts.

If this back pain is a new thing, definitely call your OB. Sometimes cervical dilation will cause this kind of pain as will a kidney infection. But then, so will back strain. However, back strain will not cause you to have a baby and those other two will. Hopefully you can make it a few more weeks before delivering. Call now~

I would call the Dr. just to be sure. In my last weeks of pregnancy my back hurt CONSTANTLY....a dull nagging pain.

I definitely think you deserve a prenatal massage: 2x a week until you deliver the baby.

Call your doctor! I had some strange feelings at 28 weeks, and didn't want to call my doctor because I feared he'd laugh at me being a first time mom. Next day I went into premature labor.....lesson well learned!

Does it run down your leg? If so it is Sciatica(sp?) I had it and it hurt like the dickens....Call your doctor or the hospital you're registered at. Better safe than sorry! :grouphug:

I'm curious too, now. It def sounds like back labor to me, because that's exactly what I felt when I went into labor with DS. No across-the-belly frontal pains the way labor is supposed to be (according to the stories I've heard and all the books I've read). I had excruciating pains in my back that didn't stop until they gave me the drugs. Then it was smooth sailing...Aaah. Epidural. That's how I spell relief.

I am 33 weeks and spent all of friday in the hospital with preterm labor.
they call me their frequent flyer but you can never be to careful!
I hope you called and got it checked out.

Sometimes it can also be the way the baby is laying that puts the pressure on you back.

thinking good thoughts for you !

Im back. I have to go to the doctor today. I called last night and he told me to lie down on my left side (seems like I hear that a lot. LOL) and come in in the morning. So Im getting ready to leave right now. I think calling was a good thing to do. Thanks.

So glad to hear that you called. Please let us know what he has to say when you can.

My first DD sat on my Ciadic Nerve (sp?) and it was terrible :guilty: I would still ask your OB though to make sure it's nothing more serious.
