When I called Disney to add a request on our two room reservation that we booked using the Best Rate program, we discovered that the ME and flight info had been lost. The CM mentioned that there seemed to be some glitch with the system losing ME bookings if they weren't booked as a package. But I urge everyone to check with Disney to make sure they have you down for ME and your correct flight info at least 30 days prior so you get your tags, etc.

(Call 1-800-828-0228 to save yourself time, I always seem to get right through using the 800 #, and money.)
 
Same kind of thing happened to me two days ago.
Were at 40 days out till our trip and I was calling Magical Express (ME) to let them know of a change in our flight time. When I spoke to the CM I first mentioned to him that I wanted to change some info on our ME reservations. I gave him our confirmation number for the hotel and he told me that he had no record of our ME reservations. I thought this to be very funny since we made our reservations when signing up for the Best Rate Program. There is a section to input the travel info for the ME. Anyway I proceeded to give him our arrival flight info and departure flight info. He told me that two luggage tags per person would be arriving in approximatly 15 days.
If I wouldn't have called I would have never know. When I check my itenerary on disney.com it listed the ME reservations.

When you call about your ME reservation, get and write down the name of the person whom you talked to.

Glitches with ME have existed since day one (ca. May 2005). Nobody noticed because back then ME took everyone who showed up at the welcoming area and headed to a Disney resort.

Starting November 1 the ME desk is supposed to enforce your having an advance reservation. Given the history of glitches and failure of guests to receive written confirmation even after request, IMHO Disney must prove that the guest did not attempt an ME reservation prior to denying transport.

The mission of ME is to be magical, not a hassle. Preserving the magic must come ahead of making sure no taxi company decoy can get a walk up ride without a reservation to tell his boss about, and must never go so faras a shouting match with a CM over the supposed reservation or lack of a reservation.
