As we get closer to opening day of the sparkling new BLT, I am amazed at the lack of discussion regarding the use of the observation tower at the top of the building. Knowing it was part of the sales pitch for the buy-in, I am surprised that not many people on these boards have discussed what we will do when we are no longer allowed access to this viewing area the way DVC owners are not allowed entry to the viewing room over Jelly Rolls at the BWV.

I was not part of the purchase of the BWV, but some have indicated that the large room over Jelly Rolls was to be the exclusive use of DVC owners to view the fireworks at Epcot.

Not knowing what the real deal was at BWV, I am raising the question of what DVC owners will do, or what recourse we have when we are selectively not allowed access to area at the top of BLT because it has been rented out at top dollar to different groups who are participating in large conferences or concentions at the adjoining CR.

I think everyone that posts here is aware. The docs are VERY clear we don't own the observation deck. The promotional material says the same thing.

If you bought BLT for the deck then you are all set to be disappointed. We bought BLT for the location, not the deck. I hope that we will get to use it, but if we don't I won't be looking to bring a lawsuit.

I'm sure there will be some people yelling about how the "person" at DVC told them it was always going to available for their own personal and exclusive use.

Yea, the BLT MK view rooms are as good a view as the observation tower IMO. No way we will leave our private balcony to smash in a room with the same view. I hope they keep it though, for LV and SV guests, but for us we will just go watch at MK if we have LV or SV.

The Product Understanding Checklist clearly stated that the observation and lounge areas located on the top floor of the BLT resort are "not an accomodation or facility of the timeshare plan", and thus "there is no guarantee that it will continue to operate or will continue to be available for use by Owners and their guests and you should not purchase in reliance on its continued availability".

"The Attic" was also part of the sales pitch when they were selling the BWV. "The Attic" would have only had a so-so view of the high fireworks from Illuminations, whereas the "Top of the World Lounge" pretty much looks right into the park so the view of "Wishes" will be excellent. I think the chance of ever getting to use the BLT lounge is pretty slim. I hope I'm wrong, but if WDW can rent it out for private functions and make a ton of money, do you think they would just let members use it for free?

I thought I heard somewhere that there are 2 observations decks, one outdoor and one indoor. The outdoor one sounds better. From what I understand, the indoor is a lounge (bar). It seems to me that you would have to be close to the windows to actually see anything. If they allow people to stand at the windows, that would block out most of the rest of the room.

I really think it's an apples and oranges situation. I think there might be a riot if they don't let people use the observation deck over BLT. On the other hand, just what is it that we are supposed to be able to "view" from the Attic. The fireworks view isn't that good. Not that I wouldn't like to have it to use, but there is really nothing that special about it.
