Upset with Survey

Recently, I completed a survey after our visit to DHHIR. I usually don't do surveys, but with the upcoming renovation, I saw it as an opportunity to express some ideas about some changes I would like to see happen. The questions began by asking me to rate the cleanliness of the resort as well as the friendliness of the cast members. All well and good. But then there were questions which I felt were completely irrelevant. It never gave me the chance to voice my opinions which is what a good survey should do. After almost a week, I am still upset that I was asked certain questions which I felt were not something that should have been asked and that I was not allowed to give the feedback I wanted. Because this is weighing on my mind, is there a number I can call to give feedback? I'm not quite sure who the survey came from.

They write the survey questions to slant the responses to match the outcomes they want to justify the decisions they make to please the stockholders not the guests.
To put it bluntly they don't want constructive criticism. They don't really want to improve the guest experience they just want to increase profits.

I understand that, but many of the questions had nothing to do with the resort or the renovations. They were actually very irrelevant and even on a too-personal note.

I feel that way about a lot of surveys. It seem the questions are slanted toward replies that match what they already plan to do and then can say "X% of those surveyed agree with.........". Probably part of the reason I rarely complete surveys anymore. They also NEVER provide any type of feedback to let you know how the results were used or what they were able to conclude. It seems mostly like an academic exercise that goes nowhere and just wastes my time.

I’m very curious about what questions would have been so upsetting? (Genuine curiosity, not disagreement here). We’re you able to skip or say not applicable?

I'm hesitant to say because I don't intend any kind of controversy. Let's just say there were questions about who I brought with me and what gender they were and what my sexual orientation is. It just seemed weird because there were no other questions about my demographics. If there had been, it would have made more sense. Again, I just wanted to focus on the actual resort but wasn't given the opportunity.

This Survey was for a certain topic.
As mentioned above, the survey was slated in a certain direction or it was a snap shot of the topic.

They only wanted your option about THAT topic, not your thoughts about anything else.

If a survey rambles off into questions you don't think are appropriate, you can either not complete the survey or send an email to some part of Disney expressing your concern about the subject matter. No one is required to complete a survey all of them are optional.

OP, if it made you uncomfortable it will make others uncomfortable. Even if Disney won't use survey answers in making decisions, they should be made aware that they should review the questions. Even from a profit and loss standpoint, upsetting people with survey questions tarnishes the Disney brand and could cost them money.

Yeah, so this has been standard questioning on every Disney survey over the last year. It's not a big deal. They always give the option "prefer not to answer" on the sexual orientation question. The others are just for demographic purposes. They have been asking the age/gender of the travel party FOR YEARS. This is a generic demographic question. They are trying to figure out how many of their visitors are families vs non families and then what percentage identify as LGBTQ+ in order to have more solid data on that.

At any time, you can close out a survey and just not finish it. If the questions make you uncomfortable, that is what you should always do.

I don’t have a problem with the questions except that they didn’t ask any other demographic questions. The sexual orientation questions were the last questions and directly asked if I am a member of the LGBTQIA community and whether or not the person I traveled with is. Again all fine and dandy if they had asked other demographic questions. The real issue though is that it was presented as a survey about my experience at the resort and there were few questions about that and I was never given the opportunity to tell about my experience or offer advice on what could have made it better. So when I got those last questions, I was left with the impression that that information was the true reason for the survey. I also realize I can close out of a survey at any time, but that doesn’t change the fact that I didn’t get to truly express my experience at the resort—“supposedly” the whole reason for the survey.

That is really strange, I haven’t seen that on surveys I have done, I wouldn’t have been comfortable either. I hate it when surveys don’t give you an option of comments.

We got back Wednesday and might have received same survey or similar. Those questions regarding age, who is traveling with you, male, female, United States, - are usually in all the surveys. If you keep going towards the end, it will ask for salary range, white, hispanic, are you a member of DVC, Disney Visa, Costco, etc.

Sometimes I choose the "I choose not to answer" reply.

Mine was geared more to my DHS day/crowds and that nature. Surveys might start out and end the same but the content in the middle might be towards a specific area they are interested in. But you are right, sometimes I want to write my thoughts on something and no question for it.

I don’t think it was the same survey because mine didn’t ask for any of that. Nothing about age, ethnicity, salary, residence, etc. I actually thought I was getting into those type of questions, and I was frustrated that it wasn’t asking me more about the resort. I was also surprised that those questions were the ones they started with. Once I hit next, it said the survey was over. I was like “What???”

Sometimes if your answers don't align with the demographic they are looking for feedback from, the survey ends abruptly.

I was going to say that also. Based on your answers the survey ended without showing you all the questions.

Don't wait for a survey to give your feedback. They are designed to gather specific data not to be a response tool for visitors.

We were just at Disney and got a similar survey.
the text at the start indicated that they were not seeking ideas or suggestions for improvements.
