UPS package sent on the 17th and still not showing up?

I ordered a few gifts for the kids on the 13th with HearthSong catalog. According to them, in plenty of time for Christmas. They say they mailed it on the 17th via UPS. Still hasn't arrived. They gave me a tracking number but nothing is showing up with that number. Even their representative said nothing is showing up for them either.

I'm ticked off. I don't know if UPS isn't scanning their packages because they are busy or if Hearthsong really didn't even send it yet. Their website says it is still processing so I'm kind of thinking they haven't even sent it.

Oh and it was mailed from Ohio and I'm in Illinois. Ohio to Illinois via UPS when it was mailed 5 days ago should have arrived by now. I'm not sure who to be pissed off at. Everything else I ordered online has arrived. HammacherSchlemmer arrived 2 days after I purchased them online.

I am waiting on a MAC game I bought on Ebay from someone who seemed to be a reputable seller, lots of positive feedback...BUT, I paid for the game on Dec 8 (paid for priority mail shipping). Finally on the 17, the seller told me they shipped it on the 15 and I should expect it during the week. Still never came, and after some prodding...the seller sent me an email saying they are sending another one overnight/guaranteed christmas eve delivery. I really don't think they sent the first one and I am doubtful I will get the second one.

No tracking number...I am getting the run-around. And really pissed at this point. I don't know what to do about it, because if it doesn't come on Monday, I am out of shopping days.

I hope you get in on Monday as well!! I have realized that is rarely the sender that is delaying your receipt of it but instead the company they decided to ship it with.

I think all the shipping companies are experiencing problems. I had a package shipped via DHL on December 10th..It has been in a town about 30 minutes away since the 14th, then got sent to USPS, then back to DHL, and then back to another state. Now it is in the town about 30 minutes away again. It is one book that weighs 3 pounds...how difficult is it to get to me? lol

I am also waiting on a package shipped via the USPS that was sent on December 10th and currently the USPS says they don't know where it is but I should expect it by the 26th. The sender said it would be here by Christmas, the USPS said it wasn't there fault they didn't know where it was....

Oh the joys of mailing things around the holidays.

It looks like TRU recycled a tracking number. I didnt know you could and my dh, who works for UPS, never heard of that either. Im hoping I get it on Monday.

If the tracking # shows no info available it probably was never picked up by ups. Which means you probably won't be getting it by Christmas.

I shipped 2 items Tues am USPS Priority. Told both would be there Fri - Sat at the latest. Neither arrived today.

Just an FYI - when I shipped last Friday (12/14) from UPS they told me they would not be doing any deliveries on Monday the 24th except for overnight and 3 day select. My packages were all delivered yesterday and all were scanned all along the way.

Well my USPS tracking number showed no information available but when I called USPS and finally got a real person they said they just were not scanning because of increased packages...however they knew my package was on the way they just didnt know what state it was in lol

I think UPS recycles tracking numbers. My current bareminerals order is on a recycled number. When I enter it in UPS.com, it comes up as something delivered in Feb of 2007 in California. This is the second time this year I have had this happen to me.

Try hitting the "package progress" link. When I did that, the new info is there. The old stuff is at the bottom, showing delivered, but then the new stuff is at the top, showing it arrived at the Buffalo distribution center last night, so it should come Monday.

I agree. Very weird. They really should delete them out of the system before using them again.

ETA: As for UPS not delivering on Monday? The UPS site has this on the calendar:
Dec 24 Monday Regular delivery, including both air and ground packages. Automatic daily pickup service not provided. Pickup available for air and international shipments (no UPS Ground) if prearranged by Friday, Dec. 21, or via UPS On-Call Pickup service. Must be something about the 17th. I got an email yesterday ssying my package had shipped from a sporting goods retailer. I logged on to track the package and it said it had been delivered on the 17th. Only problem is I never recieved a package. I emailed customer support and they said they would check with their supplier and look into it. It's no big deal because I don't need it til April but still I want my package that I paid for.

Amazon had 1 day delivery if you ordered by 1 pm PST today. I had something I wanted but I didn't trust that it would make it here in time and luckily I found it at B and M store with no lines and great happy customer service. I was so happy, I usually dread anything but online shopping.

Notice the bottom item is whn I generated the shipping lable, the line above it is when the UPS truck picked it up, and the "Origini Scan" is when it actually got into the UPS system.

If they gave you a tracking number the UPS record actually begins prior to when it was picked up by UPS.

I heard on the news this am that there was some kind of accident (can't remember if it was train or truck) east of Gary IN that involved vehicles tranporting UPS pckgs. Some were damaged, some destroyed. The news report said it would mess up deliveries. I was waiting for a pkg. too but mine arrived today.

Last Christmas, Hearthsong had huge problems with deliveries. There were many people who didn't get packages delivered in time for Christmas and they had ordered at the beginning of December.

Fortunately, I had ordered a few small items, but it still bothered me that after numerous calls to Customer Service,they finally told me that they had massive issues with the online orders.

They gave the merchandise for free to me, since it arrived in January! Thank goodness I really didn't need it. But I felt so bad for the people who ordered the bulk of their things from that company.

I hope your package comes through. Hearthsong wrote me so many letters telling me they rectified the problem.

My husband--a UPS driver--says tomorrow will have all regular drop offs. busines and residentials but no pick ups. Its pretty much a regular day for them and they are not getting off early (they never do).

I have to wonder what goes on in Ohio..I live in MD..and ANYTIME I have ever ordered anything that comes from Ohio, or have bought something on ebay that comes from a seller in Ohio..or just plain mailed something from here to Ohio..it takes forever..and sometimes NEVER shows up..someone mailed me a priority mail pkg 2 weeks ago..it took 11 days to get from OH to MD?...2 years ago I sent a check for a vacation deposit to a cabin we wanted to rent..it NEVER got there..I had sent it overnite delivery..they could never find out where it went..I got the Post Office to cover the cost of shipping another one Express Overnite with tracking..and it took 3 days..no explanation of why things in Ohio disappear..just seems very odd to me!..I send mail to there and it gets there in 2 days..but from them back to me..takes at least a week!!
Oh well...that's my vent for the day...but I do hope your pkg/pkgs show up tomorrow in time for Xmas Day!

There was a train derailment on a train between Gary, IN and Chicago. UPS had cars full of packages dumped all over the tracks. They sent UPS workers to clean it up, but who knows the extent of the loss.

BURNS HARBOR, Ind. (AP)--A freight train bound for Chicago derailed Friday, splitting open several train cars loaded with UPS packages just days before Christmas.

Hundreds of workers from United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) were sent to the site to load packages onto trailers and get them back on their way, company spokesman James Vickery said.

An engine and 10 cars derailed near U.S. 12 and Indiana 149 about 10 miles east of Gary, Norfolk Southern (NSC) spokesman Rudy Husband said. No injuries were reported, but the derailment also blocked some Amtrak trains to and from Chicago.

Amtrak said it stopped some westbound trains at Elkhart or Michigan City and arranged for buses to bring passengers to Chicago. Passengers for some eastbound trains were being taken by bus from Chicago to Michigan City or Toledo, Ohio, to board other trains.

The freight train, which was traveling from Secaucus, N.J., was hauling 39 UPS containers. The UPS tracking system will allow customers to track their packages online and be notified if their parcel was thrown off the train, Vickery said.

One lane of westbound U.S. 12 will remain closed through the weekend while crews clean up debris and fuel, officials said.

One South Shore commuter train bound for Chicago was stopped briefly by the derailment, said Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District spokesman John Parsons. Passengers on that train were returned to their stations while emergency crews assessed damage to the tracks.

I've ordered from Hearthsong before. The Christmas before last I spent like $300 with them and everything arrived. I can't remember how early I ordered though.

Interesting...Maybe it is, because I also have a package that was shipped out on the 17th according to the tracker. We're REALLY hoping to have it by tomorrow!!
