Well it's sort of lost. i ordered an item on ebay. The shipper sent out package. I was not aware it was shipped, never got an email. One evening I was checking my Ebay account and noticed a tracking number for the item. I checked it and it was a UPS tracking number. I usually get Ebay stuff from USPS. Anyway checked the number and it stated the package was delivered at 11:51 AM that day. Left at front door. It is now about 8 or 9 PM. Wife was home all day, no knock on the door. No package. Looked at the side door and back deck no package. Called UPS. They said contact seller, they have to initiate a case. Emailed seller no response. This was 2 days ago. Am I out of luck?

Start an "item not received" dispute on ebay and paypal. Perhaps that will inspire the buyer to communicate with you.

Thanks, I was just looking at the ebay site to see if they can do anything.

I've had this happen three times over the last couple years. I've had two packages show up two or three days after they were "delivered" and the other package showed up two months . . . yes two months later.

UPS was no help at all on the package that took two months show up. I had to call the company who shipped it. Luckily it was QVC and the refunded my money. I called when I got the package and they gave me a credit for sending it back.

I guess I'd wait a day or two more, see if it shows up or if the seller responds. If neither happen, open the claim with e-bay.

Hopefully the seller will work with you. If it shows delivered, Ebay will side with the seller.

Once the case gets opened, UPS should check with the driver to see if they have any other info on where the package was left, may even have them go back out to where they delivered it to look for it. If they just delivered it to the wrong house, that might come out during that check. If it's not found, UPS automatically insures all packages for $100. If the cost was under that, the seller should be able to file an insurance claim and give you back your money.

I have had several packages stolen from my front door - any chance that happened? If no signature is required, my UPS drivers often won't knock - they drop and run. Not the best process, but I get that they are delivering tons of packages each day and just need to leave the package and not wait to see if someone answers the door. Because of the thefts, I have a notice on my door telling all delivery folks to drop packages over a locked gate. They are generally good about doing that.

Look all over... Once we had a lost package and got a refund. A month later DH turned over a wheelbarrel we kept besides the garage and there was the package. That was about 7 years ago. Last week in the rain we got a delivery of HP touchpads, they under the wheelbarrel again but at least the drive moved the wheelbarrel in to the driveway so I knew something was there.

Sometimes UPS and FedEx partner with your local post office. When the package shows delivered it means they delivered it to the post office but it will take 2-3 more days until your regular mailperson actually delivers it to you. I suggest calling your post office before filing a claim.

I can't speak for UPS doing this, but I agree that FedEx does this. And as another poster stated, if UPS says it was delivered then any claim filed with Ebay/Paypal will work in sellers favor, not yours.

When I've had that happen, the status showed "handed to post office" or something along those lines, not "delivered."

I think you mean "seller."

OP - you need to pursue this with UPS. Sounds like the seller did everything right; it's not his or her fault that UPS dropped the ball and you will not win an item not delivered dispute, as others have already stated.

Just to give an update. the seller will send another item that will require a signature and they will file a claim with UPS.

thats what i like to call the UPS easter egg hunt. :rotfl: typically with UPS the sender must file the claim/tracer, not the person who received it which is why the seller needs to get the ball rolling. glad to hear the seller was so nice and accommodating as UPS can be just terrible with these things.

It always shows delivered when UPS hands it over to my post office. I called UPS before and while the 800 number tells you nothing, I often get them to have my local UPS office call me. It works so much nicer getting info from the local people who really do know what is going on.

I actually now have my local UPS facility phone number stored in my phone :teeth: I called the 800 number about holding an order for late same-day pick-up, they had my local office call me, and my home phone has this neat little feature...

Look around out of sight and weather. Call UPS and ask for the local UPS to call you back and ask if they can talk to the driver to see if he remembers delivering the package. You might also check with the neighbors as well. Good luck.

I have absolutely no experience here; I've never bought from ebay.

But it's a strange combination of coincidences. I would look to the seller, not UPS.

What do you expect the seller to do? The package was sent to the correct address and delivery was confirmed. UPS messed up, not the seller.

That is really nice of the seller; hope you leave good feedback.

UPS will not let the reciever file a claim it has to be filed by the seller so she would have to contact the seller at fault or not. :hippie:
